Dubstep Awards 2013 Opinions and Thoughts
Hi guys would like to know your opinions on the voting.
I would like to know whether you feel people should be able to view the current standing, as I think this sways voters. Furthermore it will let guys who haven't heard a specific tune or need their memory refreshed to listen through all the track and then decide. For example: Just because Kahn's Dread is the most recent I think it got the most votes, whereas other possible bangers could rock it. Maybe a youtube link (or a juno sample) could assist for owes to refresh their memory.
Also the process from nomination to voting form...how does that work?
It definitely seems that the voting is skewed because of the time of releases and significant events in terms of podcasts etc. Old mixes get stale in the memory and fresh mixes are more likely to crack bong.
I feel there are a number of ways to improve on the voting ie. Making the 90% of sheep in the society not side with the leader and making quarterly or bi-annual voting.
Also I by no means think that voting is the be all and end all, just cause a certain person or mix or station etc wins in the votes, it doesn't mean that it will change the opinion of the individual...certain tunes will be dope to you for example (Tunnidge - Dark Future) was my nomination for best tune but it didn't even feature....voting however is just a nice way to see what the majority is doing. Aweh!

Re: Dubstep Awards 2013 Opinions and Thoughts
I simply don't think it is fair to have Tempa50 in there... unbeatable release (the strongest ever?)... Compilations should be more in the style of either label-specific (DJ Madd transmission) or "mixed labels" where the compilation is graded based on selection by a DJ (or label).. Just my 2 cents.

Re: Dubstep Awards 2013 Opinions and Thoughts
But Tempa50 isn't even doing well in the votes. Was pretty obvious that Mala in Cuba was going to win.(Even if I do disagree with it)NattyWallo wrote:I simply don't think it is fair to have Tempa50 in there... unbeatable release (the strongest ever?)... I think separation of album and compilation is a valid ideaNattyWallo wrote:I simply don't think it is fair to have Tempa50 in there... unbeatable release (the strongest ever?)... There should be a Best Track and Best Release category, seeing as Mala's 'Stand Against War' is a bit old.

Agree and disagree, although it would make more sense to seperate the two.. there probably isn't enough releases of them year on year to make it competitive enough. You could probably skip the whole nominations part for those because there wouldn't be that many to choose from.StepMan wrote:I think separation of album and compilation is a valid ideaNattyWallo wrote:I simply don't think it is fair to have Tempa50 in there... unbeatable release (the strongest ever?)... Best track and best release could definitely be worth doing. Anything from EPs to a 2 track release. That'd be interesting. I'd probably have voted Commodos EP as best release but wouldn't choose any of the 4 for best track.

Hmm, have to agree.
The reason I mentioned 'Stand Against War' is because it had been a Dubplate for some years and I couldn't really understand why it would be nominated for Best Track of '12.
Aren't the awards for the specific years? Not overall. I don't really see why Mala was in the Best Producer category, seeing as he only made the Mala In Cuba album.(Well, that's the only official stuff we've heard from '12)

haven't voted yet
(not that it will sway anything)
it's like chewing the cud
ruminating on what's best for dubstep
exercising a butterfly's influence
have we worked out when this closes?

This. Quarterly voting?! Already seems like a lot of effort from the people putting it on. It's not ENTIRELY fair, but you've gotta remember, it's a popularity contest from the start. Most nominations gets you on the form, most votes gets you the win. It's nothing serious, just a nice bit of recognition for the winner.SCope13 wrote:Jesus you guys take this too seriously

Re: Dubstepforum Awards 2013 : VOTING OPEN
mac or windows? if windows, is your vista updated? if mac, is your mac OS, and is your javascript updated? ** As of December, all mac's have to download a separate preferences app from Java directly, due to java attacks.blackdown wrote:cleared my cache (it logged me out of FB etc), voted - it still didnt work. getting annoyed with this now, any got any other tech tips?
its funny, but the complaints we're receiving are less and less. like maybe 25 people out of thousands that have no problems. this is very hard to troubleshoot. are your privacy settings in your browsers set to "strict" or "medium"? sorry about this martin. we'll figure it out, just need more info.
that goes for anyone else having problems. please give us as much info about your system, browser settings, and browsers. cheers.

best MC so far: Toast. joke? no hate on him, i like him, but man... he is more of a host than an MC. SP or Flowdan, both better.. i voted on SP, he always owns the whole night whenever he is invited to yunx' show. my opinion, dont get butthurt.

^never ever that.
trim has better bars than flowfarda in grime but in terms of hosting sets (which i think the vote is for), its the opposite.
and sp in a dance >>> everyone else. proper mc to compliment the dj (i assume chunky does this too tbf but sp is the master)
