Moskra - Sentry WIP (deep/dubwise/soundsystem)

Post by Moskra » Fri Feb 22, 2013 4:56 pm

Been working on this one for the past several months in my spare time, I think it has potential but the mixdown has been driving me insane. I feel the sub bass has been clouding the mix making me have to turn it down but I want it to be prominent. when I turn it down, everything else is clearer but the sub is lost. This rendering sounds a bit better in my monitors but in the car the kicks are pretty much lost in the mix and so are the snares.

I'm considering turning up the snares and adding a bit of brightness to the kicks.

Any feedback is appreciated.

the intro is well chill, i like the vocal samples, track feels like it wants to go somewhere but kinda wallows around, clap/snare could use some beef, those bongos are dope caught me by surprise! all around solid structure, felt like it could use a little more variation but its got a solid minimal vibe to it.

nice, thanks for the feedback. the snares do feel a bit lacking, I do need to definitely add more variation in the cymbals especially. It's not too many loops, might add some rolls or something. Glad you dig it to an extent though, appreciate the feedback. I made this one more for "live use" as a more impact dub for my shows than a standalone musical piece.

agree except the bongos, i thought they sounded out of place because they catch you by surprise.

thanks for the feedback, I kinda like the bongos though, it's a degree of variation. I uploaded a more updated mixdown.

this is dope!!! Tune sounds well different from ones with a similar vibe but its not sounding bad! Id just lower the volume of all channels and listen what happens but dont strip the suspended feeling off the tune!! If you ever are sending this out id appreciate a copy (and play it of course)

This is sounding darkkkkk. Love how you've used that vocal sample.
