Watched this yesterday and I have to say I really look forward to rewatching The Shining. I've seen it once and it was when I was about 12/13 getting really into horror, watching classics like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Carrie, Exorcist, Evil Dead ect. Compared to those it was extremely disappointing because... well it wasn't scary. But now knowing what a genius Kubrick is and after watching this I'm definitely looking foward to giving it another go.node wrote:I just checked Room 237
Really liked it..I'm not one for conspiracy theories or anything but I loved the way it was put together and how much people can get out of the Shining. Not as if it's all completely outlandish theories either..if you're a fan of the shining it's a must see...it made me go back and watch the film again and I did get more out of it. It was one of those films I'd thought was intense and had loads to it but found it equally frustrating and didn't add up as solely a horror film.

God, thats who.
Yeah, the conspiracy side is hard to take. I'm much the same when it comes to blokes talking in excited hushed tones saying that this MUST be how it is. But what I liked that the film did was it presented all the people's theories without necessarily backing them, or openly mocking them.Muncey wrote:Watched this yesterday and I have to say I really look forward to rewatching The Shining. However, some of the parts of Room 237 really irritated me, mainly because I absolutely hate most conspiricy theorists. Generally any theory that involves numbers pisses me off, nearly all the different theories had some form of number relivance.. 2 x 3 x 7 = 42 so the it must be about the holocaust in 1942. In a 2 hour film you're gunna see a lot of numbers, you can pretty much link a number to anything. The other theory that annoyed me was the faking of the moon landing, not for the theory as such but how arrogant the guy was, he was basically talking like "Theres loads of theories but I'm the genius that worked the real meaning out, aren't I clever.. someone give me a cookie". I think it was that guy who said he was talking to a friend and they said "Oh you know the shining? its about the genocide of the American Indians" and he laughs and says he continued to listen to his friend pretending to be really interested in his theory dispite it being bullshit because HE knew the true meaning.
Apart from that there were some really interesting parts. Can't wait to get started on my Kubrick bluray box set.
