Metallica - Black album (but earlier ones are better)
Ween - Pure Guava
NOFX - Punk in drublic,
Pharcyde - Bizarre ride
Daft Punk - Homework
Q-bert - Demolition Pumpkin Squeeze Music
GnR - Use your Illusion I, II. (Don't deny it you loved it)
Dj Funk - Bootyology
Just basically trying to span most genres and stuff that hasn't been mentioned too much, but Endtroducing is maybe my favorite of the 90's

Re: essential 90s albums ?
Weak. You guys make me feel old. Too many.
A Tribe Called Quest - The low end theory
Black Star - Mos/Talib are Black Star
Mos Def - Black on both sides
Common - Resurrection/One day it'll all make sense
Gangstarr - Hard to earn
Aaliyah - Age ain't nothing but a number/One in a million
R. Kelly - 12 Play
Jodeci - Diary of a mad band
Notorious BIG - Ready to die
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony - E. 1999 eternal
2Pac - Strictly 4 my ninjaz/Me against the world
Erykah Badu - Baduizm
Brandy - Brandy/Never say never
I'm stuck in the 90s hip hop/slow jam bubble. Too many to mention. I'll be here all night if I name everyone.

Plenty of worthy calls already, a handful more to add:
Basement Jaxx - Remedy (not that it's the best house album of the times but cause I love it so much)
Spice (and maybe Spiceworld) by The Spice Girls deserve a (semi-)serious mention. I wish I could write songs that good.
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
Jeff Buckley - Grace
and take your pick from whatever Mo Wax put out back then.

as usual you don't have a clue. Frozen was a nicked tune, pure and simple copyright infringement. It was a nicked tune from Belgian songwriter and composer Salvatore Acquaviva who wrote it I believe for an organ or something. He filed suit and won against EMI/Madonna. There goes your talent.wub wrote:southstar wrote:Nothing has ever been essential about Madonna
William Orbit on the buttons, don't hate. Frozen is a beast tune IMO...captures the spirit and memories of the time for me.
Where are Tool, Fear Factory, Godflesh, Biosphere...

And? Doesn't change my opinion of the tune, the album it appears on, or William Orbit. Back in your box, angry
Re: essential 90s albums ?
Is there a longer version of the tune btw? I've only found this so far;

You're doing a good job of endearing yourself to people with that attitude mate, people really love it when others are unneccesarily confrontationaljoeki wrote:as usual you don't have a clue. Re: essential 90s albums ?
I look back and think of stuff like wu or primo or stuff from seattle, techstep and what not, but in actuality the music that came outy of radios or eastpaks were mostly Mr Big, 4-non blondes, savage garden, Mike and the mechanics or Nene Cherrys tnuc little brother.
