Bought Blade Runner on blu-ray this week so watched that last night. Never gets old.
They also did quite an amazing job reworking the special effects I must say. It really looks fantastic. If it wasn't for the retro looking vehicles and old tv's you'd think it just came out.

Really liked it..I'm not one for conspiracy theories or anything but I loved the way it was put together and how much people can get out of the Shining. Not as if it's all completely outlandish theories either..if you're a fan of the shining it's a must see...it made me go back and watch the film again and I did get more out of it. It was one of those films I'd thought was intense and had loads to it but found it equally frustrating and didn't add up as solely a horror film.
Watched this yesterday and I have to say I really look forward to rewatching The Shining. I've seen it once and it was when I was about 12/13 getting really into horror, watching classics like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Carrie, Exorcist, Evil Dead ect. Compared to those it was extremely disappointing because... well it wasn't scary. But now knowing what a genius Kubrick is and after watching this I'm definitely looking foward to giving it another go.

However, some of the parts of Room 237 really irritated me, mainly because I absolutely hate most conspiricy theorists. Generally any theory that involves numbers pisses me off, nearly all the different theories had some form of number relivance.. 2 x 3 x 7 = 42 so the it must be about the holocaust in 1942. In a 2 hour film you're gunna see a lot of numbers, you can pretty much link a number to anything. The other theory that annoyed me was the faking of the moon landing, not for the theory as such but how arrogant the guy was, he was basically talking like "Theres loads of theories but I'm the genius that worked the real meaning out, aren't I clever.. someone give me a cookie". I think it was that guy who said he was talking to a friend and they said "Oh you know the shining? its about the genocide of the American Indians" and he laughs and says he continued to listen to his friend pretending to be really interested in his theory dispite it being bullshit because HE knew the true meaning.

Apart from that there were some really interesting parts. Can't wait to get started on my Kubrick bluray box set.

^^^
I'm a big fan of the shining, but not a fan of conspiracy theorists (bad science/reasoning forcefully put across as fact is one of my biggest pet-hates)....so I'll watch room 237 and probable be annoyed by it.

I watched Pandorum the other day. For the first 15mins or so it's quite promising sci-fi/horror and seems like it could be as good as an Alien film with a bit of Event Horizon thrown in. Stuff kicking off on a spaceship away from any help as people wake from deep sleep with memory loss and try to figurre out what is going on is a decent enough tense start. But it quickly turns into too much repetative action sequences and piling on extra stroylines that don't make much sense, so in the end it's a bit crap. Disappointing.

filled the night by watching Ravenous again (another one I revisit at least once a year). It is such a critically under rated movie (that fortunately has gathered a small cult following in recent years). Its ratings on IMDB and rotten tomatoes say enough (7/10 from voters, but only 45/100 metascore, whilst only 37% critics rating on RT but 77% from audience).

It's hard to describe: it's a thriller, but contains loads of gore (hence it being labelled horror by some, which is false). But the dark humour and excellent dialogue bring it into a whole different atmosphere. And the excellent soundtrack and beautiful nature shots give this story an incredibly mysterious backdrop. And the casting was most excellent, hell even David Arquette didn't annoy me.

Recommended if you want to see something different.

Just watched Moneyball. I've got absolutely nothing with baseball but I still thought it was quite good tbh. Really enjoyed it.

Robert Downey Jr is hands down my favorite actor of all time

Is it weird that I liked him more when he still was fucked up and had drug problems?

he's still sick now though

Not a movie, but I have just watched all but the last 4 Twin Peaks episodes over the past couple weeks. Pretty good. Less weird than I was under the impression it'd be, and theres been a couple really slow points, but overall worth a watch.

Les Miserables. Gave up on it after an hour 40, its nearly 3 hours long.. who can watch singing for 3 hours?! The plot was pretty simple but made insanely confusing due to the long drawn out singing in absolutely every scene. I don't wanna say its a shit film because its not, I'm just not into all that... gave it a go, wish I'd never bothered.

Its put me off watching Sweeney Todd.

Yeah, the conspiracy side is hard to take. I'm much the same when it comes to blokes talking in excited hushed tones saying that this MUST be how it is. But what I liked that the film did was it presented all the people's theories without necessarily backing them, or openly mocking them.
