One of my students gave me scare. He had a bloody nose and it started coming out of one of his eyes. I froze for a couple of seconds but remained calm, put a gentle pressure, and assessed his level of consciousness, if he was dizzy or about to faint. He was alert, calm, and joking, told me it happened before so that gave me comfort. Called mom and went back to class. I was ready to call EMS.

What's your budget? And by work do you mean a lot of GPGPU stuff? More information = needed

no budget really.

all 3d modeling. so its fairly gpu heavy stuff.

will also do a sneaky & install my games on it.

I don't know much about video cards to be honest, but I think something with an nvidia gtx680 might be a safe bet.

So my parents, uncle, aunt and nephew are going on a roadtrip to the US & Canada this year, and I can go with them. Only problem is that it's during Dimensions, and me and my friends want to go.
Knowing my friends though, chances are moderately high we won't go (because of general laziness of my friends + them already having failed some exams).
Should I go to the US and risk missing Dimensions, or should I not go to the US and maybe go to Dimensions? I'm thinking US.

Also another problem is that both are during the re-examination period of my uni, so if I fail an exam this semester I'm screwed anyways.

Graphics cards for 3d design and major lines - wireframes, are different to gaming cards. I currently use a quadro fx5500 in my work machine.
That's a R 25000 card.
Games run like shit on it but Catia runs like a breeze with large assemblies.

In a year or 2 when I do my masters I'll be able to follow a course on designing and creating parallell processing programs with GPGPUs which will be awesome.

Yeah probably going to do it. They already went 2 times before and I skipped both times because I was doing other stuff. Always regretted it a bit.

Also when I'm in Canada I'll finally be able to see what all the fuss around poutine is about.
