dubstep - what direction are we heading?

Okay what a few guys have been doing recently isn't going to decide where the scene is going. There are still tons of the old school artist plus a huge magnitude of new guys (thanks to the internet) that are pushing the sound that is known as dubstep. Also deadmouse is not somebody that I would give the time of day when think about the future of dubstep or even house music.

just a few guys? benga and skream are just a couple o' guys? they aren't the face of non-brostep-dubstep? they aren't the most influential of the most-mainstream-but-not-true-mainstream-but-still-mainstream non-brostep-non-mid-range-but-still-technically-mid-range-if-you-mean-like-the-frequency-but-not-like-"mid range"-mid-range dubstep artists? lol

bottom line: skream and benga are not just a couple of guys!!!!

regardless, it seems you aren't too good for skream. so - might skream's recent distractions be a result of the mainstream attention? I'm trying to start conversation over the future of the movement as a whole and how past events have affected it, not to make people bitch about posers name dropping benga. he "left" dubstep because he's fed up with dubstep elitists who are ruining the music for him. just sayin.

what "bro" said anything like that? It's more like - whenever someone comes to DSF, we all automatically assume he is a brostepper who is trying to convince us that doctor p makes good music. we don't even pay any attention to what they say. we just tell them they are a brostepper, be sure to use the word "fail" and "bro", and then click submit.

the "continuum"? the cycles of generations of bass music evolving into each other (ie jungle into dnb, etc). yeah, I mean I guess that may be good enough for some. But I was never really that into any of the other typical genres very much. I like/liked dnb, but it's not the same.

Ever since electronic music is being made people like to throw with genres randomly without knowing what they're saying, unless they dig a little deeper. I guess it's just how it works.

one thing i have noticed that annoys me is some people starting to just call stuff "garage" again. not really referring to dubstep, but the whole amalgamation of different styles of electronic all part of this scene in the uk atm. i have seen people on some sites saying "yeah i listen to garage" when referring to either dubstep or stuff like night slugs, hyperdub or whatever etc. i hate to be a dickhead over genres and labels, and in theory it is 'garage' i suppose... and there is definitely a resurgence in mid 90s garage sounds i have heard in new deep house tunes over the past couple of years but can't help but feel these people are using this term in a similar vain to "bass music", i can't think which is worse /rant

yeah i see a lot of people now who post mixes saying its a house/garage mix and the only thing that gets close to garage is some disclosure type bullshit
