DnB, focused mainly on soulful/liquid styles but can go into the deeper darker stuff too.

Re: Rinse FM Thread
Hessle, Numbers and Oneman are the ones IMO.
Re: Rinse FM Thread
Hessle show now weekly!
Re: Rinse FM Thread
I feel bad for saying this because hes been apart of Rinse forever and he is a legend BUT.....
how has Plastician still got a weekly show? Chestplate lost their show and I still don't understand why Dusk & Blackdown don't have a more regular show. I'd like to see a Black Box/Box Clever show on Rinse ahead of the majority of dubstep based shows.
Out of interest what does Dismantle play?

Re: Rinse FM Thread
I did feel this for a while but to be fair to him, since he's been based in la he's really stepped it up with big name guests in the trap/moombahton/bro world. Not my cup of tea but those regular big guests must pull in loads of listeners. He's the only show on rinse really repping those American sounds so fair play to him - I think he should still have a show.Muncey wrote:I feel bad for saying this because hes been apart of Rinse forever and he is a legend BUT.....

Does anyone else find it baffling that Hessle Audio get as much airtime as they do? Is there that much demand for ambient pleasant house music?

I agree tbh. Obviously they're the flavour of the times at the moment but I'd rather hear a set with artists and tracks i know rather than just the most obscure house vinyl they can find. Think once a month was enough.Harkat wrote:Does anyone else find it baffling that Hessle Audio get as much airtime as they do? Is there that much demand for ambient pleasant house music?
Also Royal-T show from Wednesday was good.

New DOK 'Tommorow Never Dies' he played was heavy, forthcoming on Terror Danjah's new compilation.

i disagree, i get pretty bored when radio shows are playing the same tunes and artists every week/month (though i'm pretty guilty of doing this myself when playing out lol)codeStep wrote:I agree tbh. i think hessle strike a good balance between obscure old shit and newer dubs that people expect to hear in shows

Hmmm i agree to an extent but I'm not usually familiar with 99% of stuff they play so probably not for me.chekov wrote:i disagree, i get pretty bored when radio shows are playing the same tunes and artists every week/month (though i'm pretty guilty of doing this myself when playing out lol)codeStep wrote:I agree tbh. Foamo's set from Thursday was a biggun' though - really enjoying stuff he plays. Like this new shadow child on dirtybird for example:

Re: Rinse FM Thread

Re: Rinse FM Thread
My Mum was loving Horse Meat Disco as we drove into London this afternoon. Rinse widening the demographic!
Re: Rinse FM Thread
He's had some huge guests on the past couple of months. I really enjoyed the week he had Gaslamp Killer and Kastle on. I wasn't into the Bro'ish week, but hes had a whole magnitude of music on the show - it's not been limited to the hard stuff like trap and bro. I'd guess he is still on Rinse because he doesn't necessarily lean to one sound, and as mentioned he must be pulling in the numbers with the guests he's brought on. When he's not been in the USA he still plays a really good spread of grime and dubstep as well.codeStep wrote:I did feel this for a while but to be fair to him, since he's been based in la he's really stepped it up with big name guests in the trap/moombahton/bro world. I'm really into Hessle Audio for similar reasons. My favourite shows on rinse are the ones that don't really stick to one style. Hyperdub this evening is fantastic. Always enjoy Icicle when he's on as well.
Why is there no longer a Chestplate though? - I've wanted to know this for so long. Distance was my favourite show by a long way, he represented the best of the dubstep sound for me.
Re: Rinse FM Thread
Not a single guest hes had on recently appealled to me. Fair enough if hes pulling in the numbers, I assume hes getting a new fan base with the stuff hes playing atm.. I'm not a fan and used to love listening to his show so probably explains why I think someone else should get a show.
Getting pretty annoyed with their podcasts finishing after 20% downloaded, sort it out rinse!

There's plenty of radio shows, podcasts and other mixes catering for the big tunes.
It's good to have some diversity and hear some things that you haven't heard before... It's one for download rather than listening to in the car as it's worth listening to properly.
The Numbers show with Jackmaster and Joy O before Christmas was the best mix I've heard in ages.
On Plastician, the trap show be did was ace and I agree it's good to see someone focus on something a bit different. My difficulty with him is how often he goes on about being involved with dubstep from the start. We know!
Re: Rinse FM Thread
I don't see that he's playing too differently from before, more the guests he's had on really. (re plastician). I've seen him live a couple of times in the past year or so and he still plays mainly grimy stuff and the jazzier edge of dubstep like joker and silkie kind of vibe. Definitely hasn't changed up his sound as much as people like skream and such. I'd imagine his support for the likes of Skrillex and co while he's been away would have scared off a few of his longtime fans though. I do often feel like he is always trying to explain himself online to people who are disappointed by things like that.
Re: Rinse FM Thread
Rinse need to bring back Chef, I miss his selection and was great at hosting.
