time to make some feedback loops

its not really the same when done in software but can't afford a hardware mixer atm (or in general) :C

I'm also interested in feedback loops. My daw doesn't allow me to route backwards, so I've only experienced it with my monitors and DI guitar or a mic.

just ableton. be sure to put a utility device with DC correction on the master and inside the feedback loop as well as a limiter on the master of course.

then i just send track 1 to track 2, let aux 1 send to track 1, send track 2 to track 3 which goes to the master. crank the sends and off you go.
found that setup on reddit, to start the feedback (as there is no noise ground in digital workstations) you use a vinyl distortion unit's crackle generator which i turn off once the loop starts.
then you insert various fx to get interesting textures. i'd recommend not too many at once, start with basic mixing tools. eq's are great for tuning feedback and generally spinning it in directions, limiters and compressors can create really interesting rhythmic motions when you set the mixer levels correctly, i've found that these kind of fx create way better results than distortion or reverb or other SFX-y effect units, which just muddy the sound into white noise after a while.

i'm sure the setup can be replicated in almost any DAW

Don't think fl studio allows for feedback from sends into other channels/sends, could be wrong though.

Hatcha and Mala are coming to Movement 2013 in Detroit...wonder if it's worth the ticket cost, hotel stay and gas just to see these two. I've never seen either on a roster for a show I'd actually go to (not to mention I'd get my fill of live Techno acts).

Also Andy C and Noisia, but I've seen both those acts plenty of times. Is there any big festival Andy C doesn't play? I see this guy's name on EVERYTHING.

Nah it's London so it'll be 90mins/2hrs tops...DnB promoters in London have this habit of trying to cram as many big names into 45min/1hr slots as possible.

Gotcha. I love Andy C, don't get me wrong, but I swear every time he plays a festival in the states the flier reads something like: ANDY C B2B ANDY C...MASSIVE SIX HOUR SET AFTER YOURE ALREADY DEAF AND READY TO DIE FROM EXHAUSTION. Then stay for the after party with DJ X, DJ Y and ANDY C!!! :6:

The rest of that flier looks amazing. Maybe I need to start paying attention to DnB again. TBH, these days I'd rather hear 45 minutes of amazing DJ skills from any given DJ then a forced marathon set.

Had one of my favourite mixes of all time on this morning;

Paradox - live at SR18 April 2007

Dillinja - You Dont Know Remix - LOGIC
The Sentinal - Genesis - BASEMENT
Crystl - Crystlize - DEEJAY
J Majik - Reportoire - METALHEADZ
Futurebound - Blue Mist - TIMELESS
Source Direct - The Crane - SOURCE DIRECT
Arcon 2 - The Beckoning - REINFORCED
Dillinja - Violent Killa - VALVE
Matrix - Convoy - PROTOTYPE
Odysse - Object - 720 DEGREES
Mixrace & Protonisospace - Kings - TIMELESS
Futurebound - The Emphresis - TIMELESS
Crystl - Meditation - DEEJAY

Paradox a little bit 'happy', basically playing his favourite tunes and ranting over the mic as his live PA equipment didn't turn up. Awesome tunes and jokes comments

Spoke to a promoter who said he was up for booking me at what seemed to be a reputable night, only to find the Facebook account I was in contact with has been removed today, lovely
