How to Choose the Right Monitor Speaker?
For someone who is building up their first home studio, what would you say the best monitor speakers are? I know everyone has there own opinion, and there are probably other variables at play here, but what brand do the majority of dubstep producers use?

What's your budget?
I'm rocking some K&H O300's myself but then again I got them for my mastering work mainly.
For the £300-400 mark I'd go with Rokit 8's. £400-700 some 2nd hand adam's and above that well you really do have a choice then but at that price you will probably be demoing these things not asking about them on a forum

Re: How to Choose the Right Monitor Speaker?
True.. I'd probably be better off going down to guitar center and trying some out. Thanks though!
Re: How to Choose the Right Monitor Speaker?
Look at how big your room is and how well you can treat it. Then look at what size monitors would best suit your room. Determine a budget, look up a bunch of monitors for your size in your budget (incl. second hand) and test those out.
Don't immediately go for the biggest, baddest monitors if your room can't handle the bass. If you can find monitors in your budget with an 8 inch woofer and your room is small, it could be a better idea to look at a similar priced monitor with a 5 inch one. In all likelihood, it'll be higher quality than the 8 inch one.
Also try to find a store that offers a full 30 day refund or sends you monitors to test out. It doesn't just matter how good they sound, but how good they osund in your room

Re: How to Choose the Right Monitor Speaker?
IMO find your maximum budget, then save up another 50% on top. Can't spend enough on speakers.
I get loads of people asking me what parts they should buy for a new DAW workstation PC. They come at me with a specced £1.2k+ PC then tell me they'll be using KRK Rokits with it
Genelec, Adam, Quested, Dynaudio, Focal, Neumann/KH, Event, etc
If you must buy budget though, like I had to, go second hand.

Equator Audio D5s for 400 USD. Add a sub later if you think you need it. They beat the pants off anything else in the price range.
