Re: What is layering?
If you pan some of the layered sounds left and right (say if you layered 6 or so clap/snap samples) you can make a big stereo sounding clap or snare. Seems pretty popular now days in the more abstract and new hiphop scene.
EDIT:
forgot to mention stagger each sample off from the next by a little bit, its the time difference between the sounds in your left and right ears that give a stereo impression.

Lol, I asked a question. I know there are a lot of people on this site that are nice enough to help. I have my ways of getting information and I have my reasons in which way I tend to look for it. If you don't want to help then don't, I just scroll past your comment anyway.
Re: What is layering?
When i layer bass sounds. I create a group that has 3 instances of Massive with an eq8 in each channel, these Instances could have the same or different patchs depening on what i wanted the bass to sound. I isolate the freq range that i want to use from each Massive instance individually, best results dont use the same freq range on each instance, thats like defeating the purpose. So now you should have 3 seperate Massive instances that have 3 seperate EQ ranges that are all being "layered" into a single sound via the group/bus the are all part of. You can add al limiter/comp to the Group itself to "glue" things together a little if you want. Play all 3 massives at once (enabling all at once for record) or paste the midi into each one sepeartly so that they are "playing" the same notes at the same time.
For bonus points you can even add seperate effects to each individual Massive instance inside the group and automate those effects to create more "movement" in your bassline group. Again not copying the exact automation, but instead creating unique automation on each seperate Massive isntance/channel in the group.
When i layer pads, ill just find pads that sound good together and compliment each other they will play the same midi usually, put i will pan them harder Left and Right from each other, to help fill voids and add ambience.
When i layer drums im lazy and just end up placing multiple Drum hits to play at the same time, adjusting a few thigns like Vol and EQ within the drum rack to "shape" them together. My drum tech is due for some more refining lol thats for sure.

That sort of behavior is deplorable, and seems must prevalent among young teenagers. But, people will wake up eventually i think... all we can do is hope and inform.mthrfnk wrote:(omg people do!)claudedefaren wrote:He was talking to mthrfnk, whose post was deleted from the looks of it. Yep, mthrfnk seems like a typical internet tough guy. He'll wake up sometime, i think. I'm not offended bybthe word retard anymore than I'm offended by homophobe. or ******. But only children say those things in day to day speech, thinking they are edgy or tough. But, as I've said, people grow up, and they learn

Ha! those blanked out words were f.gg.t and n..er
There was a time when people would have said "you should just not be offended stop being so butthurt over a word" about both of those words. Evidence that we have progressed socially in this culture!

Also, Mason, don't upset him - egregious statements like that could ruin his life. Take a hard look at yourself, I hope and pray that you too will see the light as I have done.
(As an aside: wub posted like 2 times after my post before it got removed... so he obviously overlooked it idk)
