Afternoon all, been a while! Hope you're all well.

Got my DMZ recap up on FKOF last weekend, forgot to post the link in here. Find that here:
http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/dmz-8-birthday/

Next up, had four new FKOF Promos since I posted the Corporal F one in here, check the SoundCloud set for them all. Promos from Sublimated Sounds, TUBA NYC, Starke and Kaium. Find them here:
http://soundcloud.com/fatkidonfire/sets/fkof-promos/

Last but not least, the final FKOF free download for a while. We're taking a bit of time off to concentrate on the new site and another project we've got lined up - so we wanted to bow out (for now) with something a bit special...

It's been a fairly long while since we had a FKOF free download from Kaiju. To celebrate being crowned 'Best New Producer' and reaching 2nd in the 'Best Mix' categories of the 2013 Dubstepfoum Awards, as well as reaching 2,000 fans on Facebook, Kaiju are back on FKOF and giving away their truly astonishing remix of Adele's 'Skyfall'.
Soundcloud

Download the 320 here: http://www.mediafire.com/?tx8v506v21dnyte

Korrupt's review:
"Kaiju open their ‘Skyfall’ re-rub with spotless sample-use, overwhelming the listener as a mesmerising journey starts to develop. Mystical sounds give ‘Skyfall’ the extra flavor it deserves. Adele’s tender and soothing voice sucks the listener right in as the drop hits...

"Kaiju implement a wild and long reverb, greatly widening the stereo image. The reverb is accompanied by a resonant and warm low-end that passes through the sub-layer – and Kaiju’s use of panning techniques really carves out their mark on this piece. Their 'Skyfall' re-rub flows freely, in sync with the brains’ frequency.

"With Kaiju taking this tune on a completely different course to their previous releases, they’ve without doubt made another impeccable production."

Enjoy :Q:

Afternoon all, hope you're all well.

Apologies for the silence over the past few weeks - been a busy fortnight or so. New site's up, so if you haven't had a look through check the intro post for FKOF2.0 here: http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/welcome-to-fkof2_0

We've had a few new bits and pieces go up on the site since launching last weekend:
- A chat with Kaiju after their Adele re-rub went out: http://www.fatkidonfire.com/interviews/kaiju
- A comp with Innamind to win a test press of Quantum Soul's 'Strong Root': http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/innami ... tkidonfire
- A recap of Reconstrvct XI from FKOF contributor Pete (and images from Electrogenic): http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/out-an ... nstrvct-xi

Also just upped the latest FKOF free download, collab business from Deafblind and Mesck:
Soundcloud

Download the 320 here: http://www.mediafire.com/?dwc4cdzg9t7w6bv

Korrupt's review:
"A resonating pad unfolds: a sweeping and scraping growl sneaks into the mix, hinting at complete destruction when the ‘distant cry’ becomes more apparent. The first 54 seconds of the mix are already flawless; the way its constructed is simply brilliant. Deafblind and Mesck are coming in with serious pressure – hold tight!

"The first drop is breath-taking: the lead is an constantly morphing organism, with a lot of emotion compressed into the background (thanks to the intense pad returning to the mix). The resonance of the reese/growl is beyond the level of normality: tearing into the listener's eardrums like no other. With the low-end, a perfect balanced kick-snare and the impeccable soundscapes, this is truly a collaboration to behold.

"As the break commences, the fade out gives the elements some space to evolve into a higher state. The sweeping lead comes back in, slowly becoming more and more aggressive. The delay applied on certain elements really widens the stereo image, while the reverb on certain elements is also nicely applied. Although this was Deafblind & Mesck's first tune together, they outdid themselves with this one. An amazingly packed tune full of crisp percussion, mesmerising soundscapes and serious basslines."

Enjoy :W:

Easy.

First of three uploads has just gone up on the FKOF SoundCloud/ website this weekend. Been a long time fan of the Formless so properly honoured to be able to give three of his biggest tunes away...

WAV/ 320 links inside:

"Formless never ceases to amaze. In my opinion, this is one of the biggest FKOF EPs we’ve featured in our 3+ years of existence. The three tracks on the EP are diverse, but consistently maintain the Formless sound. Watch out for the Formless in 2013, this is his year."

Hope you're all feeling! :D

Last one from us; Happy Easter from the FKOF gang:
Soundcloud

Korrupt 's review:
“The listener is immediately confronted with some seriously resonating basslines, which transform towards another dimension. The vocal sample leaves a message for the listener, as Kelly Dean’s remix starts to build toward the mind-blowing drop...

“The warm low end is supported by sweeping soundscapes which sound very comfortable to the ear. I like how the mix’s snare isn’t immediately present but, only moments later, slices your head off as it gains energy through the weighty silence.

“While the break brings a moment’s respite, Kelly dropped my mouth to the ground with the second drop. The power behind this track is the combination of smooth percussive elements, flowing low end and perfect placement of the other elements around the mix. This is a huge remix of Mesck’s ‘Altered States’ - and Kelly Dean proves to be a highly (underrated) player in the 140 movement.”

A seriously cold remix from Smog Records 's Kelly Dean (with FKOF fam Mesck on the original).

Easy all. Hope you're good!

Few new bits and pieces for you today (apologies for the delay in getting the thread updated):

Final MIG x FKOF mix has just gone live over on SoundCloud:
Soundcloud

After three years and almost 150 interviews + mixes, I wanted to the feature series on a high. What better way to do so than with one final feature with DEEP MEDi Musik's The Dub Mechz? No track list on this one at the artists' request.

There's been one or two posts on the site over the past few days as well.

Formless - http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/formle ... tkidonfire - quick bump on the FKOF EP from last weekend
New Music - http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/new-music-13 - a recap of what we've been listening to in the past weeks
Yunx at Reconstrvct recap - http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/out-an ... strvct-xi/ - our man Pete saw Yunx tear Brooklyn a new one and was kind enough to put together a few words
Subway interview - http://www.fatkidonfire.com/interviews/subway_music - Dutch contributor Michael sat down with Subway boss Nicon recently to talk the label, events and the future

Last but not least, we've teamed up with HiFi-Tower to give a lucky someone a KORG midi controller. Details here: http://www.fatkidonfire.com/news/hifi-t ... tkidonfire

Happy weekend :W:

Cheeky FKOF free for you all...

Korrupt's review:
"SYZ' 'Esoteric' opens with striking percussion and an immensely poppy kick that collectively hint at a destructive production. The growls give the listener a taste of what kind of mid-range they'll be dealing with deeper into the tune. SYZ sucks the listener right into the track with his flawless soundscapes; which are positioned in the deep and dark end of the spectrum.

"While the drop pounds and echoes through the mind, SYZ’ excellent delay timing and sharp manoeuvres really give this track its unique character. He continues to amaze as the different percussive elements cross paths with the cutting mid-ranges, layered in a very intuitive way. Most of these patterns sound organic and are actually pretty unique – solid madness!

"The dark and aggressive vibrations hit the listener's chest plate, announcing the stomping second drop. Hearing this tune on a rig for the first time confirmed our suspicions; serious bass weight on all fronts. One guaranteed to get the rewind in the dance!

“After hearing this on Distance’s Rinse FM show, we had to give this underrated producer and his mad tune a home here on FKOF. Getting this FKOF free download going was worth the wait – SYZ is definitely raising the bar!”

Enjoy!

Evening all.

Soundcloud

Just upped a new FKOF EP over on the SoundCloud; 'Deluded' and 'Awake' from Warsa.

“We can happily say that, while he is grounded in the foundations of the dubstep sound, Warsa is one of the most forward-thinking producers we’ve had the pleasure of featuring here on FKOF. What can we expect from this mysterious man in the future? Everything. He has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Just updated the store with the last of my stock of FKOFUn/Known01.

http://fatkidonfire.bigcartel.com/produ ... un-known01

Other than the CD + tshirt bundles that are coming (will need to print more tshirts before the bundles go live), once these CDs are gone, that's it - all gone!

Thank you to everyone who's purchased/ supported the release so far; been truly blown away by the response. Here's to 02 for FKOF's 4th birthday next year ;)
