it seems better for sketching & tracing, which essentially is what i wanna use it for
also you can work in perspective alot better, which i find pretty hopeless in photoshop

yeah if your gonna sketch and trace then i can see why it would be helpful with the vectors. if i remember correctly, my biggest gripe was that the key functions were pretty different from photoshopAgent 47 wrote:yeah guess it depends what you wanna doehbrums1 wrote:tbh i never really sunk much time. made a few shapes and stuff but never really saw the benefits compared to photoshopAgent 47 wrote:yeah :/ehbrums1 wrote:agent illustrator was a bitch for me to learn as well...

Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
you ever try lightroom? over the years photoshop has really strayed from what it actually was: a photography post processing tool, but nowadays it's more just a general image manipulation software. i stuck with photoshop for a long time too but when I finally gave lightroom a go, I realized I was really missing out. super straightforward to use and it has a lot more tools relevant to actual photography post-processing than photoshop does.ehbrums1 wrote:I enjoy photography so when i use my dslr i like to mess with em on photoshop
Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
one of my friend uses it and she really likes it, i had always seen it as a stripped down photoshop made for photo editing. i'll check it out and see if my teacher can get me a discount.Phigure wrote:you ever try lightroom? over the years photoshop has really strayed from what it actually was: a photography post processing tool, but nowadays it's more just a general image manipulation software. i stuck with photoshop for a long time too but when I finally gave lightroom a go, I realized I was really missing out. super straightforward to use and it has a lot more tools relevant to actual photography post-processing than photoshop does.ehbrums1 wrote:I enjoy photography so when i use my dslr i like to mess with em on photoshop

yeah, it's missing a lot of what photoshop has, but only because you really don't need that type of stuff for general post-processing. i mean you're not gonna need the text tool, paint bucket, gradient tool, pen tool, liquify, filters, and all that shit - and in exchange you get a lot of image adjustment parameters photoshop doesnt even begin to touch on. it also has fairly decent photo library management built in, as well as batch processing, etc.
big ups the 35mm massive
! how do you like the holga? i've been thinking about getting the holga pinhole version, something about the way pinhole exposures look that i just love.
im lucky that my dad had an old canon t90 sitting around, the thing is a beast.

Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
i absolutely love it, i really like going for grainy, lofi, high contrasty stuff, so the holga is amazing. plus it doesnt change frames automatically, so one cool thing you can do (because holga lens only have two aperatures one mode for sunny and one for cloudy) is take a picture with the recommended mode for that day, then switch it and if you take another picture without advancing you can get really cool ghosty double exposures..

yeah that's what appeals to me about shooting film too (and because i've got this nice cam sitting around and don't see any reason to buy an expensive DSLR). i know it sounds like cliche hipster talking-out-of-your-ass type stuff, but the way chemicals on the film capture the light is just very different from how a CCD sensor responds to light.ehbrums1 wrote:i absolutely love it, i really like going for grainy, lofi, high contrasty stuff, so the holga is amazing. plus it doesnt change frames automatically, so one cool thing you can do (because holga lens only have two aperatures one mode for sunny and one for cloudy) is take a picture with the recommended mode for that day, then switch it and if you take another picture without advancing you can get really cool ghosty double exposures..
does your cam body leak light at all? cause the T90 i use was a pro level cam back in the day so it's built too well to ever get any nice light leaks on my exposures
double exposures are cool, but doing it like that with those two settings sounds even more intriguing
the price of film and getting it developed is a real bitch though, especially since im kind of picky about what kind of film i like to shoot on
Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
nah i know what you mean i prefer b&W film myself.Phigure wrote:yeah that's what appeals to me about shooting film too (and because i've got this nice cam sitting around and don't see any reason to buy an expensive DSLR). i know it sounds like cliche hipster talking-out-of-your-ass type stuff, but the way chemicals on the film capture the light is just very different from how a CCD sensor responds to light.

my holga, yes but no more than what you would expect.
yeah its really cool, if i remember some time ill scan a few to my compa.double exposures are cool, but doing it like that with those two settings sounds even more intriguing
yeah it was nice when i took photoclass, had a dark room i could go in at any time. as for film im a big fan of ilford 400. crisp boarders and DARK blacks.Phigure wrote:the price of film and getting it developed is a real bitch though, especially since im kind of picky about what kind of film i like to shoot on

Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
yeah ilford is my go-to for when i shoot black and white. by far the best! don't do b&w too often though since i'm too lazy to develop them and the rolls always just end up sitting around for ages.
so i shoot mostly color, and when i do it's almost always ektar 100. just like ilford for b&w, it's pretty much as good as it gets for color
