KTN High pitched screech
KTN High pitched screech
The bass in question is at 45 seconds in this song:
Ive come close but i cant get the "ripping" feel this bass has which makes it sound clean:
Soundcloud
Any ideas for processing chains? Is there any filter sweeps (My guess is no)?

Re: KTN High pitched screech
Bring up the resonance on your filter
Or use a comb
Or use a comb
Re: KTN High pitched screech
So far no filters are being used, straight out of fm8 into harmor with some distortion and unison on low settings, ive never had much luck utilizing comb filters, any plugins you recommend? Or should the bifilter2 comb filter work fine?
Re: KTN High pitched screech
Try the bifilter with comb 2x with resonance at like 30
Another bifilter with resonator with resonance at like 35, get the frequenices to match the pitch and automate the wet of those 2 plugins gradually up/down when you want it to effect it
Do the same with some distortion, but that's still not the same thing... not sure how ktn did, but far too loud did the same in fm in 600 years, might be inside the synth... not sure, keep trying!

Re: KTN High pitched screech
You could try adding an over-the-top EQ Peak sweep on the frequencies you want to accentuate?
Re: KTN High pitched screech
I've made something very similair to that, i'll look trough my project files.. Pretty sure i split the frequencies and literally took away the entire low-end.
Re: KTN High pitched screech
Messing around with massive and got this by mutating a knife party-ish hard synth I was working on a while back. No processing outside of massive, could have potential.

That high sounds is coming from the resonance on a filter for sure, run that through distortion for the grit. Btw to the guy above: Artifexwubz? Lol, my name ARTFX comes from the word Artifex.

Haha the names basically just for something to put on my soundcloud while I set up my new production moniker (getting artwork done and stuff).ARTFX wrote:That high sounds is coming from the resonance on a filter for sure, run that through distortion for the grit. Funny enough I got the screech not from the filter resonance but an osc (square/saw 1) pitched 4 octaves above the other two. Whether that's how he's doing it or not I wouldn't have a clue. I've had a go at running it though some presets in ohmicide and it sounds fucking nuts.

Take two, some external processing this time.
Soundcloud
Having trouble getting that really gnarly reese at the bottom end, prolly have to layer it up some more.

cool it sounds like your getting really close, sounds goodSure_Fire wrote:Take two, some external processing this time.

id say some eq automation (peak filters) for a more vowelish sound like in the song + more processing to get it closer.
also yeah the reese layered underneath wont be easy, sounds like a phaser/flanger (or both) & distortion is involved.
Re: KTN High pitched screech
I reckon that might be the way to go. I'll probably automate the high osc independently of the rest of the reese, the second time it comes round in the song you can hear the rest of the reese but no highs. Might have to get out sytrus for that low reese, probably get better results with FM.sunny_b_uk wrote:cool it sounds like your getting really close, sounds goodSure_Fire wrote:Take two, some external processing this time.

Yeah I was just going to say, why not make the sound in layers? Gives you much more control, just automate it so it sounds right.

Re: KTN High pitched screech
I thinks this sound is made out of four different patches that are played one after another. You can clearly hear that single parts of it are used throughout the song
