People getting into trouble over bootlegs?
I'm unsure whether this is the right section to put this in, but here we go. My question is if any of you know of examples of producers getting into trouble for putting bootlegs (unauthorized remixes) up on the internet? - Not selling, just soundcloud and maybe pass it on to a couple of other DJ's. By trouble i of course mean legally, not just having your bootleg removed - anyone?

wasn't a fan of the dub, probly would have bought it if he'd kept it on. if he'd been threatened with a lawsuit then fair enough thorayman612 wrote:french fries took the vocal off his amerie remix before it got released

But do you know of any examples where it wasn't released in any way - simply floating around the internet? As you might have guessed i am sitting with one that i would like to put out there, but i am unsure whether it's a good idea or not?

Cool, the general rule most producers grasp is that classics (usually the first releases on a rated label) shouldn't be touched. Obviously there's people who will bootleg the whole dmz back catalogue to boost their own name but you can't do much about that. There's a tonne of examples but the only recent ones that come to mind areJensMadsen wrote:But do you know of any examples where it wasn't released in any way - simply floating around the internet? Goldie slating A1 Bassline for touching 'True Romance' (rightly so)
Shy not being a fan of anyone who touches 'Original Nuttah' (someone tweeted a moombahton bootleg to him

If it's someone from this or a similar sound then send it to whoever the original belongs to first (everyone's easy to get a hold of nowadays and most people are safe). If it's a bootleg of some chart hit or some major label success though then fuck it tbh, as long as you're not selling it, do as you please.JensMadsen wrote:As you might have guessed i am sitting with one that i would like to put out there, but i am unsure whether it's a good idea or not?

Some bootleg sellers had been caught by police because violated rights of artists'. Actually it's okay to record bootlegs and exchange them with other collectors, but do not sell them.

Re: People getting into trouble over bootlegs?
why are you fishing for examples and how many do you need ffs? everyone's different so their reactions will differ.
