Re: Black metal
Get some cheap hardware synths and a half-destroyed guitar = 100% Burzum sound!
Re: Black metal
Most of the old black metal stuff (Emperor, old Dimmu) used older Korg keyboard presets. They aren't doing anything fancy. You might look through some Korg Wavestation vst stuff. Although you should be able to create something very similar in any synth. The Korg X5D has been spotted on stage at old Dimmu gigs.

Re: Black metal
I've got an Alesis Fusion that I've used for my black/folk metal solo project Swordbearer. Great sounds on it, perfect for atmospheric metal.

No problem! Good luck with it. Here's some of my Swordbearer tracks, bear in mind the production is quite raw!

Re: Black metal
what's even more important would be the scales that they use!

Re: Black metal
And? It's blackened folk metal lol. Didn't really call for anything beyond basic choirs and whatnot. Not to mention these recordings were from years ago, back when I still just went with cool-sounding presets rather than trying to customize them.test recordings wrote:Just sounds like choral and harpsichord presets....

Re: Black metal
In this type of music, the playing is more important than the sound itself.

Seeing Black Metal in dsf makes me happier than a midget running through a field of grass.

I understand that, I was just curious as to the general sounds that are used for bm. It always sounded kinda like a choir/string thing to me.
I dunno, my brain is weird and if I don't know EXACTLY what something is or how to make something I get all OCD until I figure it out.
Also explains why I spend more time learning about music making then actually making music.
