I'm not asking about any particular sound they use, but more of what makes their sound...
When I hear their stuff, it sounds like all their sounds, even drums, are coated in almost a rubbery edge. It's hard to explain, you can hear it in the growls a lot and the snare (toms) very well, it's this very clean cut and well... rubbery.
What creates this? Is this just what happens when you run all pieces of a tun through a similar chain of FX?
This is very noticeable in their rattle remix, the drums and 2 bass sounds are all different, but have that same "coating" and edge to them. Pegboard nerds' stuff has this same effect where all their sounds seem as if they have a specific sound to them even when every sound is entirely different. As if they've been processed very similarly or have some specific effect setting that they are running every sound no matter what it is through if only slightly.
Would this be achieved by finding a unique sounding distortion setting and using it heavy as a send at a specific point in an FX chain?
I hope I'm explaining this correctly...
