Not to sound like this guy, but are ripping your favorite artists tracks or just remixes you can't buy? If you're serious about you music and what people to buy yours, you should do the same. Just saying... the industry is bad enough as it is with big labels, cut and paste pop artists who get a lot of $$ behind them, and 2 million radio stations rhat play the same 50 songs every year at the same time.

You'd be surprised how many "producers" don't know what a wav is. About time someone explained it to themOfficialDAPT wrote:why write an article when no one thinks that mp3 is better than wav
Re: 20 Reasons Why WAV Is Better Than MP3 ( By Silent Code )
It's easy to explain why a wav is better than an mp3 technically, no one is denying that but it doesn't mean an mp3 is more useful or more appropriate in certain situations
Re: 20 Reasons Why WAV Is Better Than MP3 ( By Silent Code )
Seeing as how the default export is a wave file, i find that hard to believe.Audio Animals wrote:You'd be surprised how many "producers" don't know what a wav is. About time someone explained it to themOfficialDAPT wrote:why write an article when no one thinks that mp3 is better than wav

lol this thread is so waste, obviously wav is better than mp3, it is always going to be better quality than mp3. Still though, no matter how much data you throw at me, it still doesnt change the fact that 320 mp3s dont sound that noticeably bad to me, and most people cant even tell the different when listening. When I say most people, i mean the general public, dont start chatting shit at me how you can tell the difference. You probably wouldnt be able to tell 50% of the time anyway.

Many of these are paraphrased versions of eachother.
Re: 20 Reasons Why WAV Is Better Than MP3 ( By Silent Code )
We all know it's better but most people have awful audio set ups and just stick their music on low storage devices such as their MP3 players.

I mostly agree with this.skimpi wrote:lol this thread is so waste, obviously wav is better than mp3, it is always going to be better quality than mp3. Although through my setup it is quite obvious a lot of the time the difference between the 2 (and for that matter the differences between different MP3 encoding rates*) I would certainly say that MP3 still is as very much relevant now as ever. Yes the quality is slightly lower however the fact it's filesize is much smaller making it quicker to upload and download (Yes internet speeds are getting better but the fact is when dealing with a lot of files at once e.g trying to send someone a collection of your dubs these little bits add up) metadata as someone else mentioned, as well as storage. (For DJ's that probably have a vast music library, you can store around x5 times more on any chosen medium than if you were to use WAV.)
I don't think MP3 will be about forever, we already have FLAC which is lossless and takes up much less room than WAV (also supports metadata) the only shame is that although there are a fair few players that support this, it isn't as popular as other formats and not every player will play them. I think we will eventually have if not this format something similar that has the portability of an MP3 but in a lossless state, bringing the best of both worlds.
*(Quite easy to tell if someone is chatting B/S too, simply get a song at WAV duplicate and compress one to MP3 and do a blind test)

I can tell the difference no bother cos I fucking love Sunny D (the old stuff not the new healthy kind, that would be more of a challenge)Mr_Frost wrote:skimpi wrote:lol this thread is so waste, obviously orange juice is better than sunny delight, it is always going to be better quality than sunny delight. people who care about the difference already know and people who don't care will never care, pointless article imo.

its not about internet speed or storage its about duplication speed when i' trying to dump a thousand of them from one drive to another. I'll keep my 320's. Not like i don't have lossless backups of all my music anyway.

Could NOT of said this better myself.
I really hate people ripping off music etc
Also while there are fair points by all I really can not see how a MP3 is better then .WAV
