have you guys never heard of cassie before?
No :-(
She's just a run of the mill r&b star who dropped a tune with a cool minimal beat. It's just modern black pop. Don't let that blog fool you into thinking she's more. She just sort of became 'acceptable' for indie kids the way Justin Timberlake did. There were some dope tunes on her album, but I cringe when people try to overintellectualize her just because she magically got 'indie appeal', because it's not from her music. And certainly not from her singing or lyrics.

I see, my rnb knowledge is poor haha. I'll give one of these mixtapes a shot anyway, see what shes about.

Speaking of rnb knowledge though, who are some good 90s artists who came out with stuff like TLC? Was it pretty much all of them lol

I don't pay attention to rnb and i'm only 18 so she would've been popular before I was really into music.

you do realize that she is one of the most sampled artists out there right now? She's been big since the early 00's, i don't see why you are bitter about it. find a thread you like and keep it moving mr black metal :t: next thing, you'll be telling me brandy sucks...

All the music you like that I don't like? Yeah, that sucks a lot, dude. Crying yet?

Why do you even CARE? I don't even dislike Cassie, her singing and lyrics just aren't that good you pussy. It's like... Uffie. She's talentless as fuck, but Feadz is a dope producer. So sure I'll listen to a bunch of the tunes. I'll give Cassie props for being at least one step above Uffie in terms of talent.

I commented on how Pitchfork and the blog overhype her as an artist and needlessly giving her props. Take music for what it is, don't oversensationalize it, that includes the by-the-numbers cliché raw black metal I like. I have no pretenses over the music I enjoy.
