so basically I'm using massive and so far i have the basic sound down but i need to give it more presence whilst it sits better in the mix, i thought this thread could be useful to quite a few people as i find a lot of amateur produces can design the sounds but seldom get them to settle in the mix
this is what i have so far:

Re: burying your bass sound whilst keeping the presence
12dB filter low pass it with some tracking and maybe resonance for bounce then add a parallel filter to high pass everything above 10-12khz.

If you need presence in bass, distort.
If you want a clean bass sound with presence, layer with the bass in a higher octave, then boost around 5k+ if needed.

EQ and filtering. Just use your ears. Distortion on a parallel channel. Be careful with it and dont distort any low or low mids. But EQing and desiging and choosing sounds that work together in the first place is key. Half of sound design is keeping the frequency spectrum and how you are filling it in mind.
