Hi,
Okay so lately i've been obsessed with those deep kick drums. The ones that have the deepness of the digital age, yet still the crunchyness of recorded drums. I think Jamie xx, the MPC guy and producer of the xx, is a master of these;

Any suggestions how to achieve this kind of sound on the kicks? Both the source of the sounds and production tips

i would think the 808 is a little to clean for this type of sound. but maybe the saturation can deal with that - which saturation would you recommend?

Just some tape type and very mild. I don't think you need much, just there's slight high-end on that kick that seems to come from it.
