Louder Uploads to Soundcloud?
Yeah so I can get a very loud clean master in my songs but when I upload to soundcloud it just reduces my waveform down a few dBs and somehow SC users like Dimmak Records and Firepower get megaloud uploads. HOW DO I DO THAT??? I let audacity clip my peaks to the point that there is no clipping distortion and then throw on a hard limiter at 0dB to make sure that nothing goes unclipped. Am I approaching that the wrong way? should I try to limit before I amplify? because it sounds the same to me when I listen to it through my monitors and studio headphones. And I use Reason so I can't do any hard limiting in DAW per say, unless someone knows a way to do that.
Re: Louder Uploads to Soundcloud?
What you could do is preserve the dynamics in the music and allow the listener to adjust their volume, improving the quality of the recording.
Re: Louder Uploads to Soundcloud?
that's the thing though, I'm just going for loud, nobody who just listens to the music is going be like "wow this song is flat as fuck", though flatter dynamics doesn't necessarily mean bad quality, but dynamic music does sound a lot better when you know what to listen for, but I just want to make my listeners subwoofers move pretty much haha, youtube keeps the amps of my songs up but it takes so damn long to render one video it's ridiculous lolz
Re: Louder Uploads to Soundcloud?
pretty sure soundcloud doesnt lower the volume of uploads lol, i dont get how people always have problems with uploading to soundcloud

Soundcloud compresses when it encodes, so if you're compressing an already heavily compressed sound it'll appear to be 'less loud'skimpi wrote:i dont get how people always have problems with uploading to soundcloud

Re: Louder Uploads to Soundcloud?
export non limited/clipped track to wav
import it back in as audio
softclipper on master
turn that shit up until its as loud as possible without sounding completely shit
i like the way a heavily softclipped track sounds actually, because it somewhat preserves the dynamics if you dont push it too hard.
also it introduces all sorts of nice harmonics.

It does compress but not dynamics compressionwub wrote:Soundcloud compresses when it encodes, so if you're compressing an already heavily compressed sound it'll appear to be 'less loud'skimpi wrote:i dont get how people always have problems with uploading to soundcloud

But yeah, if you've compressed your track so it's a mess and then you have a process which is essentially destroying the sound further it is never gonna be great.

@OP The loudness of a track comes from many stages involved in the mixing & mastering process. There's too many to list here but it is simply that, the tracks you are hearing from other guys have been made with loudness in mind so even though they sound louder on sound cloud than others they are still gonna be hella loud in "real life?" Read up on the moneyshot thread and there's a few others on this forum which talk about how to get loud mixes.

Re: Louder Uploads to Soundcloud?
Loudness isn't the be all end all of a good tune. If you mixdown properly it'll sound good, regardless of volume. Soundcloud does cut down the volume above certain decibels, so that may be the problem. If a big label has better sounding tracks, it's probably because they are mastered better. Or maybe if you pay for the higher accounts, since you get more storage, your track won't sound as weak. Either way, don't worry about it. The volume at which a tune is being heard has never influenced the listener.

no Problem mate . Big issues here . Want one ? You got it. Your tunes are super compressed. Don't go heavy on it.
