!2 year old lifer

Post by ezza » Fri May 03, 2013 12:08 am

anyone else see this? was just on channel 4 about two 12 year olds sentenced to life imprison

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/12-y ... od#3511392

wtf

how does that help anyone, how does basically taking away a childs life make up for what they did?

if an adult had the mental age of a 12 year old, surely they wouldn't get sentenced as a normal adult

so in what crazy fucked up place can a 12 year old be sentenced as an adult

obviously there needs to be some sort of punishment (or imo rehabilitation) but sentencing a child to life is pretty disgusting and achieves absolutely fuck all

man that programme pissed me off :u:

They were clearly an immature 12 also, how a judge who is supposed to be one the most logical thinkers in the land can pass a sentence like that, shows you the problem with such justice systems.

One of them is 15 the other 12 and the 12 year olds parents are contesting him being tried as an adult so hopefully that's addressed.

I do wonder whether this is getting the coverage it is because they are white middle class kids though.

I think some judges just do it to show they aren't afraid to put the law down. Hold them up as an example
