Synth... Really... Idk.

Post by Ledger » Sun May 12, 2013 4:39 am

Alright, I asked about this synth maybe 2 or 3 months ago, only to be answered with a good reply, but not the right reply. It's the synth at 3:40 in this:
To me, it sounds like saws, or sines. Not sure at all how to make the sound itself. Help!

I failed to mention that. The glide lead. I've been after the synth for months, but can't get it.

To me I'd make the base of the sound with a standard square wave, you could add a sine at -12 for body or at +12 for some high end, alternatively blend in a saw for some grit. Light vibrato will help make the sound nicer, this is a standard macro knob in Massive, but in things like Sylenth you can just put and LFO on the phase or pitch of the Oscillators. You want to make it monophonic and set the notes to glide, so you get that smooth blend between notes. They also use pitch bends which you'll have to add in manually. Finally mild distortion/saturation and reverb will help beef up the sound.

Can't be too hard? Wavetables aren't really right but you get the idea. :cornlol: Add pitchbends.

download the "minimoogva synth" it's free and there's a ton of preset leads that sound like that, only better.
