How come i'm full of inspiration and want to make Music while at work, but when i get home all my inspiration is lost and i cant even be arsed to turn on the computer?
Re: Post Your Random Thoughts Thread!
I understood that much but it went all over the place for a short while. Wasn't sure if multiple accounts had been hacked or if people just seized an opportunity for free advertising.volcanogeorge wrote:someone got into the sky news twitter and wrote "Colin was here"Laszlo wrote:Anyone know what this '#Colin' thing is about?

This is a facebook post I just made last night...
WOW, This feeling is incredible, I'm so happy to know I'm basically related to one of my role models, I recall fondly the times of yesteryear, Jogging in Ladd's Addition in the WInter time, SE PDX. Listening to 'Julius Cesar', that's the one man, THEE album that basically told me I was going to write songs and express myself through music, songs of passion, solitude, devotion and emotion. Try this for a 2.5 minute meditation... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HzmN2_PzT_s
'Chosen One' takes on so many new meanings now.
'37 Pushups', about proving to yourself You can be anyone, Even 'De Nero' from Taxi Driver (1976), listening to AC/DC on FM taped cassette, and the floodlights come on as you come to terms with the fact your life is ending every day no matter how many or how few times you can stress and release your own weight, On your knuckles or on your palms, the weight is the same.
The dIversity on Julius Cesar is fantastic, lots of strings, Jandek comes to mind, with all the sarcastic wit of an enterprise founded on the glory of what you can provide for yourself with your own 2 hands. Not to mention to combination of sex appeal and vulnerability, Chan Marshall and Joanna Newsome, To a fatal argument, The two most gifted Female Earthling songwriters of our coexistence. What other measurements are there really. You could look at your record collection, and ask yourself, how many of those records are mine? But to know you've swam inside the most poetic of the divine in either sex, or just basically providing yourself with the soundtrack to your life, your anthology, an alternative to the creator, as in, the created. It makes for a remarkable twist of fate. I have a Family, beyond the recognition of folks content not participating in the musical community. I've never slept with the satisfaction of knowing I'll have a male adult figure in my life, that I can call upon as a source of inspiration for music, art, poetry, and the intimidating lifestyle change as a healer, miracle worker, practitioner of occultist magik/tarot reader, psychic (I just looked up his astrology chart, OMFG... His Ascendent is exactly on the cusp of Aries and Pisces, <IMAGINE THE MOMENT YOU ARE BORN, AND THE 12 MONTH CYCLE BEGINS> and I can already tell you, HE LIKE ME. His Moon is in Sag, that means we will have these overzealous sarcastic competitions, which will flee into a harmonious laughter of uncompromising charm. His three planets in Gem is powerful, WAR/MARS and SUN and Communication/Mercury, his gift of musical deployment, as well as conviction for a diverse audience, He's relating to himself on stage, it's a two way street, and he's X marks the spot on the intersection, while oncoming traffic is heading inward from 4 directions. Lucky for you, and the rest of the Drag City Records listening crusaders are safely on the curb, with your thumb on the crosswalk button ready to switch the light from green to red in applause. Point being, Artists that dominate themselves are the ones that succeed. Bill has integrity that no other man walking with 6-strings strapped to his back could ever wish for. How's this for poetic Justice... 2planets in my ascendent VIRGO, the VIrgin, I could ravish in chapters of my version of the bible as to why I'm so fond of that archetype, sparing details, it's the implement of trial and error, as in the one that learns by doing, detail oriented, work horses who allow the universe to take advantage of them, it's a form of submission, and with that submission, we allow ourselves to be used on the outside. In return humility, of ourselves and family. Mine and yours, I can't wait to introduce you to my brother, and listen to that song you wrote about him.
Anyone on here ever get into Smog, Bonnie Prince Billy, Iron and Wine, or any of the other amazing Drag City Bands??

I know this all too well. It may help to make some kind of ritual for yourself before you start making music, like making a cup of tea/getting some snacks and setting everything up. This way, over time, you condition your brain to know that it's time to get creative as soon as you sit down and drink your tea/whatever.Mehlovich wrote:How come i'm full of inspiration and want to make Music while at work, but when i get home all my inspiration is lost and i cant even be arsed to turn on the computer?
Like any other ritual it can help you go from one mental state to another.
That being said, I still suffer from this problem from time to time, would love to hear other people's advice.

take it even further by making it into a ritual in itself.Reese Liar wrote:I know this all too well. i set my music making time period to when i'm most creative and productive during the day, then my ideas just come naturally and usually i have time to test them out.
