Re: what is your work speed?
When I first started producing around this time last year, I would pump out tracks every day. They would be finished in 3 hours tops, and uploaded right after. You must also keep in mind, that the tracks were simply synths arranged with tons of distortion, and no eqing or anything. BUT, once I began to learn about going in depth with my music, I began to pump out songs about once every 2 weeks, and ever since the beginning of this year, I have not released one, single, track. I'd say since the start of this year, I've completed 0% of the 40-50 tracks I've started, but plan to release a track by mid summer.
I tend to lose inspiration for a track once I reach a speedbump, and then move on to another, only for the same to happen. Maybe I should see a therapist about my ADHD.

Re: what is your work speed?
Atm I'm averaging about 1-2 weeks. Bit different atm because most of what I write is going somewhere (e.g labels, dubs for producers or to play out) so I'm not getting as much written but what I do make is sticking (if that makes sense?)

Re: what is your work speed?
i read that many of you have problems with finishing tunes etc.
i had that too, this is how i solved it.. (i am not a veteran on music production or anything, i make music on computers for a year or so, but maybe it's still worth a read - or maybe it's for other producers like me who are relatively new to this thing)
when you are in a creative struggle and cant get out of it, you should rethink your way of thinking on producing. at least, this worked out for me.. i was thinking so much about stupid gear that i wanted to have but never could afford. i was thinking 'uh yea i'm a producah, let's make some dark shit' and posting every track on soundcloud. i was lurking too much in front of the computer and doing nothing but surfing the web and equing some snares... i think music for me was more a way to get attention from others, rather than making something lovely that i'd enjoy myself
it was in spring this year when i realized that i had to stop and go a step backwards. i was making tunes for soundcloud and not for myself anymore. so i just thought 'well i'm gonna do something that i like, and it doesn't matter if i'll finish it or not'.. i went into the woods and was just sitting there, enjoying nature (which wasnt possible in winter).. the tunes got better and more personal. also i'm not really so much in the internet anymore, i think it kills creativity, i deleted my facebook account for a week or so and made one of my best tracks. i am keeping new tunes for myself a while, some will never be heard, which was completely inconceivable a few months ago
now if you want to try some of these things, don't expect that you will be super-creative now, i think you just have to try to find some kind of inner peace, i dont know.. being spontaneous, just doing the things you love. in terms of music, i love to listen to the finnish duo clouds, because they are just so free with their music and stand behind this concept i believe.
i hope i could help somebody here and i also hope that it wasn't too poetic
but yeah, thats my way of being an 'artist'
special tip - a nice summer breeze increases creativity too
