BudSpencertron wrote:yeah def sounds cleaner now! still miss a snaresc element :( but thats personal preference so i think it might work without it too. maybe what you could try still is find the least important elements for mono and make them really stereo and on the sides so the important sounds like bassdrum bass hit really hard but yeah many say it has to be nice on mono too so try to a b while bringing them on the sides
oh and yeah i guess you where missing sth in your songs before producing maybe go back to them make new vips out of your pre producer era so you keep this part of you alive :3
Thank you so much it is great help. :-]

I'm not done with the tune at all so a snarish element might most definatley come into play. :-)

You think I should do more stereo width? I don't want to overdo it. :-D I will definatley try it out if you think it's worth giving a shot. Thank you so much for input tho, it is really helping! :D <3<3

@Ada: Nice intro, chords have a nice tone too. The melody fits perfectly - and everything filters in nicely. On the little breakdown/built it sounds very Avicii-esque, the drop is pretty awesome tbh - you've nailed the style tbh. I'd perhaps throw in a snare or clap to add to the kick on the drop section, and perhaps strip down the white noise/top end of your synts or sidechain them harder. The 2nd build is promising, I wanna hear the full song :D

@Bud: #1 Cool sounds to this, I'm not sure if it's too wonky though in places. The synth work and samples are great, not a fan of the snare in the main part though, might be cool to have a heavy reverb snare every few hits. #2 I wasn't expecting this after your first WIP haha, pretty chill stuff - it could actualyl work as an extended intro to something like your 1st WIP. Idk what feedback I can give tbh, the instruments are nice as are the mixed in foley samples. I'd recommend adding more perc though, just to focus the track on something.

@ByteMe: Some nice ideas, not really a fan of the yah/yoi though. Could use some more mid-top end, the basses and drums fill up the midrange well but you could add something over the top, synthline/samples etc. It's a short clip so there's not much to comment on - would be good to hear a build to this. As you said it's not mixed, it actualyl sounds okay - although perhaps let the snare breath more and clean up the low end of the snare it's kinda muddy.

@Kes-Es: Agressive shit haha, nice sound design though. Definitely need to work on the mix, the drums get lost at points. It would be cool to do some more strereo effects on the midrange too - it's very centralised, some panning sweeps or filter/phaser cuts would be cool.

Newest thing from me, still pretty much unmixed atm but I wanted to share it for some feedback (and yeah it's not dubstep :D):

Kes-Es: I like the arrangement but maybe switch up the drums a little more and make it less screechy. Also, the kick gets hidden a bit under all the sounds.

Vagic: Not too fond of the growth synth in the drop and the build up to the drop sounds kind of out of place. Try turning down the volume a bit and rolling off some of the high end to make it sit in the background more.

6exx: Not too fond of the weak kick, try finding a better sample or layering another kick under the one you have. Once all the elements come in you can't really hear the kick anymore so you'll probably need to sidechain or EQ some space for it... or both. Keep working on it and try to add more variety to the track instead of just kick clap kick clap kick clap.

mthrfnk: I'm liking the atmosphere in the intro, there's not too much of a buildup though. Gotta get those people hyped about the drop! As for the drop, it's interesting, I like it. The main sound in the second drop is definitely more to my liking than the main sound in the first drop. Great chune all around though!

The tune I'd like feedback on(started it this morning):

I have listened to the song 3-4 times but I'll comment as I go :) thats easiest for me:
I love the intro in every kind of way and the vocals are really cool too. The snare roll and the snare before the drop could need some fattening up. Also the claps and the kick during the main part may need to be larger in the mix (or punchier?). The synths sound great and I like the balance in how they are themselves and the "dnb"-feely percussion after the main part.

I think it is a promising track. What kind of style and audience are you aiming for for the finished product?

Here is the short mix of the version of the song I've been working on, feedback really welcome. :-D It's really helping me!

@BudSpencertron: Those Intro effects were fucking narly man... And Dang That sub is fucking phat @__@... how do u make it that big? This is a banger man, big ups... :W: What did u sample, or record, for those intro sounds?

@mthrfnk: I remember you showing me this... I really dig it :3 Reminds me of Zedd!

@OfficialDAPT: Pretty funky, it could use a strong ambient pad underneath it... I also feel like the chorus is lacking some high end, try layering some more saws...

@Ada: I swear to me mum bruv, that your a pro producer in disguise :3, you gotta teach me how you do your chorus's dude... The mix is very clean, and the overall track is just so happy, reminds me of Avicii, or something you would hear at Ultra, or Ibiza :W:

@lightshapers: Please tell me this will be done before the 31st? I wanna play this at my next show... The mix is really clean, love the ambience, and the whoops, kind of feels like a NSD track... Btw what is the vocal saying? O_o

@mthrfnk

this would be probably a big tune in that swedish house kinda thing (pardon didn't come up with any other term for that 'rapture' song. pretty cool i guess for that kind a house. the kick could be of a more aggressive sort like the main wobbles (not going for a skrillexy sound though but just packing a bigger punch than those). the vocals are ok, without em would be better. nice tambs in the background.

@officialdapt

first ten seconds reminded me of the jackass' party boy theme song. dunno if that's a bad or a good sign. maybe a change of bpm into the 125-130 area would be a good change.

@lightshapers
hype! the 'tweeters' sample is bare dumb and fits right into the song pretty good. could do with more synth work probably towards the end? your call. prefer pure 808 kicks for bass in trap-esque tunes, can't distinguish what youve been using here. nice snare fills throughout.

@smor3s

im a prick and will not comment on the ghastly gorge tune. wrong number was clearly the nicest track out of the bunch. some trap influence right there, dunno if thats what you trying to get. maybe some less samples during the 'drop' would sound better. keep this kind of stuff up.

had a long fucking writers block. today had an idea and tried to do it.
i tried to get a old school 2-step sound there.

thanks man! hm do you mean my take my handy again signature tune? i just used wood breaking from freesound i think it was called wood breaking or sth basically jsut search for wierd sounds and try to make them fit on your particular grid as a loops or sth. oh and the sub i dunno pretty sure its just massive with pure sine and a compressor afterwords and nearly everthing cut of at underneath 80-100 hertz just the kick i think a bit sidechained to it

k give some feedback to keep it going :§

@john kimble the only thing i hear atm is the sanre might be too a tad to hard for the vibe? hm it does fit though. and maybe the sub even deeper at a point? like form brum to broum and when it drops at around 1.30 again take the vox away for some time to keep it pure again.

@smor3s ghastly: dunno haha its fine for what it is i guess :3 maybe tad more interest on the drums?
wrong number: haha love trap so thats a plus hm its tuff it has nothing real special atm if you know what i mean. it does have all the elements just misses a personal note i guess?
bitch i drop bombs: def loud man :3 hm would maybe bring out the sides more? the snare is nice though keep that one in your favs !
flare: def dig it the most of the 4. nice melodie work nice sounddesign if you want to focus on one tunes in an order of importance(for me) def focus on that one first!!

actually have two tunes i work on atm too besides the other two haha too many wips

ok thats my brothers i want to finsih vocals are bit too wonky in places i guess but its def nice imo

and this one i dunno i aim for a short intro tune or sth like that not a full length song

@smores - ghastly gorge drums sound nice dude. I dont know whats happening with that tune atm, will let you know. vocal says 'bass through the bottom. high through the tweeters'

@kimble - like that sample. think your snares could do with coming up a little. That looped bit you use in the intro gets a bit grating
when it comes back in later on though

@budspencer - is all very 'escape from new york'. its a really good idea. vocals need a bit of tweaking, are they sampled or original ?

@ada that sounds amaazing to me. i wouldn't even know what to tell you what to do. i don't really work on that kind of genre but i say its great.

@lightshapers the first one i think ill ground or something. I like it. i don't think panning the background lazer sound is awesome though. i would bring the amount of that way back to almost unnoticeable. I like it though

@budspencerton the tonado song: maybe im just a.d.d. but it took too long to get anywhere for me. maybe that's just not my style but i think you'd be better off putting the vocals in sooner. and change the pitch of the vocals. not a big fan of it

heres my newest wip i need all the help i can get thank you very much

Just a little disclaimer I probably just spent the last 5 hours tweaking the compressor on the kick with a highpass on 110 hz so my hearing might be a little shot lol but here we go:

@chasewood - the white noise you are using sounds really downsampled - almost like its an artifact instead of intentional. Your sounds are pretty cool, i think you could probably turn the sub up a bit. Your kick and snare sound good but i think you could work on the cymbals/high hat during the drop to fill some of the empty space. It is sounding pretty cool so far man good work.

@Ada - Congrats man your mix is freaking good. I listened to it a couple times and honestly couldnt find anything i would change about it.

@budspencerton - nice job on the ambience on the first track man. It The whole track sounds very pro. The plucked bass @2:11 had some resonance on my speakers that made it a bit shrill but it is probably just my system. That second track reminds me of the track noisia and amon tobin did together - the reese you have in there sounds tight as fuck man. I would be interested to see what you end up doing with this track.

Here is my WIP - it is not dubstep ( i need a break from the wubz sometimes), but i would love to get some feedback.

npcompl33t The bass in the intro seems a bit too heavy. Eq some of it out. The build up is dope, and so is the drop! Still a little too much bass IMO on that drop, overall a really good tune! I especially fuck with that little wub you got going around 1.57

chasewoood Take the low ends out the vocals. They kinda clash with everything else. You need to also layer a sub under your drop synths. Other than that, really neat and unique idea man!

Ada Love the intro to death! Really like the panning hat and kind of plucky instrument. Sounds like that Japanese guitar thing (shamisen?) The build up sounded like Levels for a sec hahaha. Only complaint is that the sub at the drop is a little overpowering your main leads and stuff and at the second breakdown the bass FX is way too loud.

I was teaching a friend how to use FL with just what comes with it and ended up making some nice sounding stuff in C Major hahaha. Only thing I used that didnt come with FL was the sample of course, and thats because I tried to show him as much as I could in one project.
*EDIT: Just realize i didnt do a transition for the breakdown, and forgot to eq automate the claps...sorry. IGNORE THAT, haha. Ill do all my risers, build ups, etc if i decide to continue this tune

Just a quick post to say nice stuff npcompl33t & dotcurrency, it's cool to hear other people making more house-y stuff.

npcompl33t I like your arp basses and the really minimal bits too.
dotcurrency sounds like something based around a track off the new Daft Punk album haha.
