Ah great, a topic where I can express my respect and admiration for this music! I have been listening to Vaccine's tunes and mixes non-stop the past few weeks, and especially the mix "Medicate with Bass Weight" manages to accompany me to sleep almost every night.
When I first heard dubstep, part of the attraction of the music was the fact that finally there was a kind of music that combined elements I appreciated in other styles: deep, atmospheric songs with downtempo drums and HEAVY bass to add. Then of course stuff like Skream, DMZ, Benga added to that some heavy things like wobbling basslines and minimalism, which makes the genre even more exciting in special, but in a way music like Vaccine and Scuba actually relates even more to that void in music I was missing. It's just... deep. Triphoppy songs with deep subs and everything else that's goin on...
It's really hard to put into words but I hope some of this makes sense.
