Vinyl DJs - 7" releases?

Post by wascal » Mon May 20, 2013 12:18 pm

I'm thinking about pressing a couple of limited edition releases in a few months and I've been playing with the idea of doing limited edition 7"s, maybe 100 copies of each.

Any of you who still play wax - would you play 7"s or are they too much of a ballache to mix? :t:

They're easier than a warped 10" that spins for eternity if trying to notch it up without pressing down hard. If it's a tune I like I will make do with the size of the vinyl.

if you're pressing a 7" for mixing do it with a standard size spindle hole rather than the big ones you need an adaptor for as they are much easier to mix!!!

I enjoy mixing 7"s, no problem with them but preferably:

I really don't like mixing 7"s, they are a bit of a bitch to cue. 10"s all the way.

yeah 10"s are definitely nicer to mix with imo

unless you won't need to beatmatch the tunes that is

I dislike 7" as a format. they tend to be cut quieter so the surface noise will come through louder. they also get hidden on the shelf when stacked in with 12"s.
