BRATISLAVA - 29/09/07 - GOTH TRAD @ Sub Club
Hey all,
Here all the confirmed dates for the forthcoming European tour from the man like Goth Trad.
29th Sep "BWO!" @ Sub Club / Bratislava Slovakia
For more on the man and the music hit up:
www.myspace.com/gothtrad
www.gothtrad.com
http://gothtrad.exblog.jp
As far as I know all the European dates will be live shows, not DJ sets, so trust this is going to be something to witness. His live shows are pretty special and I highly recommend checking them out - check out his myspace for some live footage from recent gigs.
I'm posting all these separate as i saw in another thread that the admins would rather that was done.

it's like 5 minutes walking from the centre/old town, just by the river Danube. you can't miss it

3 things I miss most from the UK... swede, cider and the music scene!

so true! wicked crowd, you can pick up 3 pints at the bar and stumble across the most crowded dancefloor without spilling any drop! in vienna you usually can't even leave the bar with a cluster of people pushing from behindThe Lexxus wrote:Headhunter and I played there a few months back...

some thoughts after 3hrs of sleep in the afternoon...

mirtez was in the middle of his set when we arrived, playing mostly his own tunes i suppose... didn't know ANY of the tunes, but some of them were just pure killers! dunno the name of the dj afterwards, maybe any1 knows? huge set, starting off with some dubstep and constantly moving towards grime, not without throwing some sick scratching skills in the mix at times - without overdoing it. haven't seen such scratching in a while - except lexxus of course hehe

ok, then goth-trad... KILLER SET! can't remember a live act of similar intensity, maybe kode 9 & the spaceape, although the sets are hard to compare. incredible how he puts all those layers on top of each other. structurally it reminded me of a set by digital dubs soundsystem i saw two weeks ago, which was nice... however, goth-trad takes it WAY FURTHER. delay, echo & reverb are not just nice effects, but they build up a huge wall of sound which - in combination with the subbass - builds up a concrete foundation as basis. on top of this, he piles layer after layer, sometime crumbles just one sound, sometimes he crumbles the whole wall and leaves just a bass-drone standing in the room. impressive as well the way he managed to keep the tension over the whole concert. in the end, people were just mad! those who missed it can maybe get a clue at his brief live-set at the boomnoise & pokes show, although his stuff seems just made for public live-concerts as - especially in goth-trad's case - a canned recording can hardly carry the intensity of the triangle artist-crowd-sound
after that side 9000 b2b ans had the quite difficult task to take over... heaps of dubs as well, often a bit too dark, stomping and in a strange way rnb-ish for me personally though. however still a quality set, and considering having to play after such a fabulous concert... so big ups beyond personal flavor-preferences

plus in general...
- the soundsystem was really good
- the venue is amazing indeed
- staff is super-friendly as well, haven't met such patient bouncers in a while haha
- lightning was way too bright, the red & green neon in front of the stage sort of burnt my pupils

all in all.... WHAT A NIGHT!!!

all styles represented!
big respect to everyone involved!!!!!!!!!
+ big up the bratislava crowd!!

big up for the report, unfortunately I drank too much so don't remember much of the night
the DJ after Miretz was Biomat - a resident DJ of BWO!. he is getting better and better every time I see him behind the decks... and he hasn't been DJing for too long, maybe a year, really talented
still can't believe how many people in Bratislava got to love dubstep as this was just a third party with a big international headliner in a short period of time and all three of them were packed. wicked night, great vibes once again

no kidding
Biomat is a writer so I believe he has a solid hip-hop background in terms of mixing and scratching theory so it has just helped him to proceed quicklier in the practice I guess. my mate told me he was showing him some scratching techniques a few months ago and he picked them up really well
but it's just a beginning for him on the dj scene and it's really cool to have someone who can spin deep dubstep tunes with such energy it wakes up the dead
I am still blown away by Lexxus exactly for the same reason.
