Re: How to Become a SoundCloud Superstar, For real.
I understand your point of view, tunes you make you want oter people to hear them. But to me this thread is quite silly
Music is about promoting yourself, you make music strictly for the soul purpose of yourself.
Conacting labels that you think your music will fit into or starting your own then djing them out at shows is really whay you should be focusing on. The rest comes with people just simply talking about it themselves or posting it elsewhere once it's discovered
"Soundcloud superstar etc etc." as a home producer an not a person who makes play-out music hit up the big guys such as
Suicidesheep or radio stations etc.
Tuts/all that that stuff is only if youre frusturated at all the half assed tracks so you feel like teaching people.
Not for views
P.s zomboy is already an established artist of course people will watch those. They want similar knowledge.

You can start by using a proper software to boost your song plays.
SoundCloud Automator - Increase your Soundcloud dominance.
ReverbNation Promoter - The essential tool to gain exposure.

Its hard to recognise whether you aren't getting enough views on your tracks because you're shit, or because your underexposed sometimes haha ^^ i'm quite pleased i'm edging towards 4 figures on most of my tracks now though

Re: How to Become a SoundCloud Superstar, For real.
I got almost no comments/followers on my own soundcloud. On my label's uploads of the same tracks I got hundreds of plays on the other hand. Don't know how to get them on my own soundcloud.

Check out http://www.cloudkillers.com/.
It's a site where you earn points based on comments made on tracks that the site throws at you. Points = comments on your track. They monitor the comments and if they are pure rubbish/worthless/spam they punish the commenter as the whole goal is to give helpful feedback to other producers. I'll say it's a pretty legit site as I've gotten some good feedback from other people using it.

Re: How to Become a SoundCloud Superstar, For real.
this thread is gold... Dam. I think you really need to ask yourself why you're making music. If its because you want to start touring, sure you're going to need exposure. If you're just in it to have some fun, how many other people hear your tunes doesn't even matter. You have to have a goal in sight before you move forward or you're going to be chasing your own tail.
7 year old BROstep/Trapstep/Chillstep producer from India. Young. Talented. 7 Years Old. Super skilled for age. Signed to NOW22. Biography written in 3rd person on soundcloud OBVI. The next Skrillex. Wait I don't even like him anymore LOL. Super talented. Only 6 years old.

It is also used by people who want to win remix/mix contests that are purely based on plays unfortunatelyThisIsSovereign wrote:Check out http://www.cloudkillers.com/.

Whats the point of reposting something on Soundcloud (besides supporting friends and fellow producers)
I see some producers/dj's repost highly viewed tracks. Does this boost traffic on their page somehow?

I think that is the point, if you love something and want to share it with people in your circle. Ive had things shared by people who don't have any tracks of their own, who just like music I assume.outdropt wrote:Whats the point of reposting something on Soundcloud (besides supporting friends and fellow producers)
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget.

It would be interesting to know anyone who genuinely uses it and get this review on it.ThisIsSovereign wrote:That's true, still a useful tool though.Brothulhu wrote:It is also used by people who want to win remix/mix contests that are purely based on plays unfortunatelyThisIsSovereign wrote:Check out http://www.cloudkillers.com/.

Good thread.
My 2 cents lays on that little like button linked to facebook. I didn't know this until recently, but i have 50+ facebook likes on a song of mines, and no surprises it is the a popular song on my page, reached more fans that thru that button.

Ok so Image of individual tracks in soundcloud is important. But will I have to find an artist and pay him to make an image everytime I upload a new track even when I am not making any money from music
or can I just google and use any image I like. Will there be any copyright issues or such?

You can either find an artist and pay them for each track as you mentioned (however this will take up a lot of money fast and few would be able to afford this route)HimanshuVikal wrote:Ok so Image of individual tracks in soundcloud is important. Or the other one you said which is google an image. Most people do this or make their own up. Unless the image you're using is licensed under creative commons then you don't have permission to use it and in theory could be fined for using it, however this is very unlikely at this level. If it's just putting up a track on soundcloud for a coupla hundred plays then the artist (if they did find out) probably aren't going to be upset that much. If you started selling off 1000's of vinyl's with their pic still there and giving them no credit then that's when they're probably gonna come knockin'!
