hey guys, does anybody know if it is possible to get all the audio-samples that you have in the ableton project like drum samples and stuff into the .als file? I mean in logic its kinda easy but i haven't figured out how it works in ableton

Go to File then click "Collect All And Save", Select the options you want saved (Usually the top three), Then hit O.K.

why does it seem so random that when ableton allows me to split an audio clip and when it doesn't? it's like so frustrating.. i mean when i right click on an audio clip, sometimes the "split" option just doesn't exist in the box!

I've never seen a split option so I have no clue what you're talking about. are you talking about in arrangement view? or in clip view? where exactly are you right clicking?

it could be that the split option is only available for an audio clip that is warped.

Splitting a clip can only be done outside the audio editor, so in the sequencer. just set your marker where you want to split, or select a part of the clip, and then hit control/command + E. Should work every time if you actually have the clip selected.

^ yep command + E will split it every time. or you can highlight the part of the clip you want to separate from the rest and hit command + J. (i believe this will normalize the volume if multiple clips are selected though) hope that helps!

The volume will stay the same. I must advice against this however: what this will do is consolidate a new audio clip: that means it'll make an audio file in the project folder. If you do this a lot you're gonna have very large project folders, and command E basically does the same thing (you can also highlight a part), except it's non destructive, it just crops the clip at those marks.

so command + e would be ctrl + e on pc right? yeah and i know that splitting is done in the sequencer and that's where i have the problem. but it could be that only warped tracks can be split

No, i rarely warp my tracks, they split fine. I don't know what the issue is really. it should always work.

Hi guys,

I have a problem, you could maybe help me on. I have two tracks open and grouped them together because I wanted to apply auto filter to both of them at the same time. Now when I do this, I notice that auto filter doesn't seem to werk as well as when I do it seperately, and I don't want to do that because I grouped them together for less hassle. So why doesn't auto filter work that well on a grouped track?

I hope you guys can help me,

thanks in advance.

Cheers & smiles for miles

You're imagining things. The only thing it could be is the envelope follower. Turn it to 0.

Really? This shouldn't change it at all!
Stupid question, but you are using the same settings on the filter, right?

Are there plugins on the group chain before the autofilter? If there are then this will effect it as the original way, the filtered sound was going int the group, then hitting the other FX. If the filter is on the group but after other FX then the filter is affecting what comes after these FX.
Juicy EP out on Adapted Records ;)

Q: Some audio clips randomly don't let me change their original BPM, sometimes I can only double or half the BPM speed, sometimes I can do neither. WTF is the reason for this?

Q: Is there a way, or a plugin, that lets me see how much CPU a given device or track eats up? I have a shitty, blazing hot 2007 macbook and huge CPU problems. Also any advice concerning heat and CPU is appreciated.

I'm not aware of such a plugin. For advice though, if you have long effect chains, you should just resample. After resampling, what I would do is close the project, make two copies of it in finder, and then open up one of the copies and delete the MIDI track with the effect chain. That way you still have the original MIDI and effect chain in another project in case you feel like going back to it.

Freeze/flatten/resample a lot.
