Re: The 'Skins' lifestyle? Myth or reality?!
It sucks but i actually heard my first dubstep tune in the first series of Skins. Episode 8 i believe? A scene in which effie was injecting ketamine (lol) and Digital Mystikz - Ancient Memories (Skream Remix) was playing in the background.... Must've been early 2007/late 2006?? I didn't even know what it was, it was so alien back then. Miss that.
Re: The 'Skins' lifestyle? Myth or reality?!
Same. It was early 2007. It was that episode, but I thought the song was 0800 dub? Anyway, after hearing that song...Etches828 wrote:It sucks but i actually heard my first dubstep tune in the first series of Skins. Episode 8 i believe? I remember getting al excited hearing The Bug on Skins. Also watched a bit of a more recent one and they had this dubstepper character and the whole episode was Borgore, Excision etc. and then they just chucked on of Zomby's techy tunes (Digital Flora/Digital Fauna/ The Forest, can't remeber, one of those three.) in the middle. :/

Yeah i remember people saying it was 0800 dub at the time I think.Neptune wrote:Same. It was early 2007. It was that episode, but I thought the song was 0800 dub? Baltimore is basically a town full of poor ghetto minorities. Watch The Wire. Skins would be better set in Los Angeles or maybe Miami.
From my experience, high schoolers are kinda like that, but either much less drugs or much less partying. The kids that did lots of hard drugs in high school were not very popular. They were most likely poor and sat at home. The popular were rich, and did some drugs, but mainly drank and smoked weed. There were a few popular kids that did lots of drugs, but it was never out in the open and it was never as a group. The only things that were shared were weed and alcohol.

i HATE Skins. I loathe it with a passion. For whatever reason I watched the whole of the first season.
I suppose my teenage years were somewhere between The Inbetweeners and Skins. But don't think of them as polar opposites, most of the characters in Skins weren't supposed to be cool and were all pretty f'd up in their own different ways; you're much better off being one of the The Inbetweeners lads in reality (maybe not Jay lol).
I work with 16-18 year olds atm and it's not much of a secret that a lot of them smoke weed, as far any other drugs I don't know but I doubt many of them have tried much else atm. (That all came later for me as well!)

Great avatar - Gummo is mental!
It's funny because tonight is the first time I've been on here in a while and I just re-read my original post which is nearing 3 years old. I'm actually quite happy in how I came across back then; I thought it would be more cringe worthy!
