ironic that you think that you are rational and they are ignorant.neonmansion wrote:EliteLennon117 wrote:
uh muhammad lived 1400 years ago not in the bronze age. also militant atheism is no better than militant religion. find something constructive to do with your life other than hating.
I KNEW that I'd be corrected on the Bronze Age thing by some over reactive turd. I don't really care about nailing down the bronze/iron age distinction in a dubstep forum. IT WAS A LONG FUCKING TIME AGO. THEY WERE VERY IGNORANT. That was the point. That there is no rational reason to think that they had so much more wisdom about the Universe then educated scientists milleniums later.
And of course Atheism is the belief that a claim (theism) is not true. So your statement that "militant" atheism is just as bad as militant religion is not only ridiculous but fundamentally nonsensical.
And I do constructive things with my life. One of them is standing up against the idiocracy of religion whenever an opportunity presents itself.
Good day!

Tell me blud why is being an atheist so rational. Has science proved that there is no god? For the record I'm an atheist I am just not a fucking prick about it.

You obviously can't see what you are doing so let me explain it to you.scspkr99 wrote:
So when talking about ignorance it helps when you don't claim to not care about facts when corrected. The type of ignorance you're claiming of theists is the very ignorance you're displaying. What has this being a dubstep forum got to do with anything, it's a forum that you decided to post about religion on. If you are going to claim that your stand about religion is reasoned why should I believe you when your presentation of the evidence is incorrect and you don't care that it's incorrect.
If one of the things you're going to do with your life is stand up against the idiocracy (sic) (lol) of religion you need to do it better than you're doing it here.
Bronze Age and Iron Age, and whatever other ages are TERMS. Words that refer to a specific time period with certain characteristics. Thats all. My ignorance of them does not discredit my larger reasoning. You CHOOSE not to deal with my point AT ALL which is that the belief that various "Prophets" that lived in thousands of years ago had access to divine insight is irrational to believe. Why doesn't anything like that happen today? Its so convenient that Jesus doesn't walk on water with NBC news present to report it! Of course David Blaine can out-perform any Magic Trick these huxters used in those days of gullible frightened peasants. And David Blaine is an Illusionist! Unless you think he can really levitate. I don't know. Maybe you do.
You chose to use two posts centrally focusing on whether the word "Bronze" was factually the right word to use while not paying attention to the larger context of this argument AT ALL. That isn't ignorance on your part but sheer unwillingness to confront the fact that religious belief's are petty and stupid.

Re: The hypocrisy of Theists
Actually, he's choosing to focus on your acute stubbornness.
No one in this thread has said that that following a prophet, or their parables blindly is rational. I think most people here would believe that following anything blindly is irrational. However, the point that most of us have made, is that preaching atheists, such as yourself, need to shut the fuck up because you share the same qualities as the theists that piss you off so much. Its not ones believe that makes them wrong, its their attitude. You group all theists into one, and make ridiculous generalizations about their intelligence. Your argument is elementary; based only off of insults. There are people on this earth who choose to follow irrational thoughts in "science" and "reason" just as blindly as religion, yet you refuse to acknowledge their existence (mainly because you are in that category).
Grow a pair of nuts and realize that a real intelligent, rational person can accept the fact that other people have different views, for different reasons. There is nothing wrong with debate, but your approach is not a debate - its a mud slinging match.

Re: The hypocrisy of Theists
You don't have a point to deal with, you make some claims about theism, you don't really present them in a way to be discussed and the very little evidential content is demonstrated to be wrong. What quality of discussion do you think your posts in this thread encourage, do you think you'd actually encourage reasoned debate? Did you actually want a rational response because I don't see any evidence of that.neonmansion wrote: You obviously can't see what you are doing so let me explain it to you.

You make claims to reason and rationality and yet they are tools you don't use, they are qualities completely lacking in your posts content and presentation. You're cheerleading but your cheerleading a position you don't even understand, fine your an anti-theist but your not a particularly well informed one, or at least if you are you disguise any evidence of that as well. The truth of it is you're deceiving no one here but yourself, you're not rational, you're demonstrating no evidence of reason, you're shouty.
You want to convince someone of your actual sincerity take down religions strongest arguments, consider at least to familiarise yourself with the stuff you claim is wrong and stupid. You know the cosmological argument, the ontological argument, presuppositional and traditional apologetics. You may well be right, there may be no God or Gods but you don't know it, because knowledge has to be defined by some standard and you're not meeting any.
And mainly what kidshuffle said.

Re: The hypocrisy of Theists
There are way too many shitty responses for me to address. Glad to see that my comment elicits such vitriol. I can't help but find it remarkable that none of you can actually engage in serious thought whatsoever.
Think about it. All i have done was call a certain belief ignorant and irrational and I've been personally attacked what like 10 times in one page? I mean I understand how the internet works and I have a thick enough skin. Most of it is nothing but noise. But to the people that claim atheists, scientific thinking, secularism is equatable to religious thinking and supernatural claims I have one question. What are you smoking? I mean how can you be so smart yet so incredibly dense???
What is it about atheism (the lack of theism) ((theism: the belief in an INTERVENING God))?? what is it about the requirement for objective evidence for peoples claims? What is it about science, logic, reason, and secular thinking that you find so repulsive?? So repulsive that you lump it in with suicide bombers and Crusaders? How can you be so obtuse?

Re: The hypocrisy of Theists
lol pretty much everyone knows religion is bullshit, it kinda goes without saying. When people think they are some sort of revolutionary for being an atheist it is hilarious, put your fedora back on and shut up m8.

I for one am a PROUD atheist and stand by it, to the death if I have to. While the religious masses try to chizzle down the mountain of RATIONALITY and REASON on which I stand, they do not see themselves drifting away, slowly (because of their DENIAL of the FACTUAL SCIENCE of CONTINENTAL DRIFT). Eventually, into extinction. And once nature has rid itself with the last of these irrelevant Australopithecines, we will rebuild society in ways that would make Richard Dawkins proud. A society without war, hunger or racism. A SOCIETY OF KNOWLEDGE AND TRUTH and MY LITTLE PONY FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC

Re: The hypocrisy of Theists
I don't understand why you guys react that way? I really, honestly, for serious now, lets be real here, man to man, don't.. understand... it.
All I'm doing is arguing against the common trope that religious extremists are the same as "atheist extremists". Its such a terrible argument and its so stupid that people actual buy into it. Athiesm doesn't kill anyone. It doesn't indoctrinate anyone or impose beliefs. Stalinism might. Nazism might. Islam might. Theses are positive belief systems that all think they are the sole owners of truth.
How you can confuse that with scientific inquiry is beyond me! How can you claim that not believing in Zeus or Jesus or Muhammad is the same thing as supernatural subjective beliefs that convince people to fly into planes? I'm sorry if i CAPITALIZE some words but its frustrating how willfully ignorant people can be.
