How big we talking? Might be fairly quick if you break it down by record label or something.

never actually known how many, but thinking about it I have about 18 expedit shelves filled, and looking online they hold 90-100, so guess about 1600 - 1700 . might be able to get through it in a day

I added a fair amount in one go. It's quite easy and quick if you know what you're adding. Split it up into label or producer and then do it methodically and it won't take long at all

I usually go digital, unless I just feel like getting some vinyl. Gotta save money for gear though :)
this. i rarely buy vinyl now, as i cant justify shipping (or paying tax when it gets into the country).
Luckily there's a great record store near me that get's most limited house/techno releases in, but still.
Shit costs money.

Minimum:
£3,179.25
Median:
£4,364.84
Maximum:
£6,312.10

Got a few bits I still need to add but that shouldn't change it a great deal. Quite ridiculous considering I only started buying vinyl early 2012.

If I can persuade my dad to let me have his old ska/reggae records I suspect it'd take it over 10k lol.

It takes a while, I started doing it but then I played a gig and I couldn't remember which records I'd already put up there so i just gave up on it.

Might give it another go though. It's weird digging through all the vinyl I don't play so much anymore, some hidden gems in there!

I won about £800 a month after I started buying vinyls and spent it all on vinyls lol, that helped. I went through a phase last year of only buying vinyls with money I won on football.. spend £10 a week, if I lose I lose £10.. If I win I spend it on vinyls.

I work a lot in short bursts too, last month I did 3 and a half weeks back home doing 12-13 hours a day with only 1 day off. Got around 2 and a half grand + tonsillitis

That value is deceitful I've spent less than the minimum value I reckon.

Full on addict though.

Collection Value Range
Minimum: £483.60 Median: £766.09 Maximum: £1,337.52

Not bad considering over half of my collection I got for free or very small amounts of money in charity shops. If I sold everything I owned I would be massively in profit even at the minimum.

Most expensive sale was for frictionalism 1994-2009 remixes part 2 of 2 by anthony "shake" shakir at £64.99. I paid the princely sum of fuck all for that.

Minimum - £1597.53
Median - £2435.87
Maximum - £3845.69

I'm a student as well, used to make a relatively nice amount of p being naughty so could afford. Being a student is fucking expensive

I broke my hand punching a wall once after thinking i left a bag full of records in a random taxi we jumped into after a night. Had DMZ005 amongst a few others in there. Turned out I left it in a mates car which I had completely forgot we got into after the taxi, couldnt have a mix for ages..Shouldn't have got so pissed

my advice on collecting vinyl:

Buy entire lots off ebay

Get to know DJ's in the rave/club scene... reason being drugs are rampant, drug habits are common as are trips to jail as are unwed pregnancies. Meaning the need for money in a short amount of time is common and the amount of dj's who can no longer afford djing is high. I've bought some fairly large collection and quite a bit of gear from DJ's who were in jail, dope fucked, or knocked a chick up.

Ughh you have too more expedit shelf spaces more than me :(

It's not too time consuming to do as long as you don't have to add much. Finding that I own punk records that there's literally no trace of on the internet was interesting while adding my collection (which I still need to finish doing)

finding stuff that there's like 20 versions of can be annoying too. I mean most of the time it's ok as you search by catalog number but that doesn't always work.
