I think the point is it's gimmicky. The idea of cutting vinyl that isn't listened to and a phone is used is pretty annoying though

i'm not sure about hostels or anything but me and my friends found some pretty cheap apartments through airbnb.co.uk
i think neukoelln's one of the best places to stay atm, it's still fairly cheap and it's a decent area. kreuzberg and friedrichshain are also good but a little bit more expensive cos they've been gentrified more (tho neukoelln's also going this way apparently so i duno if anyone knows of any better areas currently..?)
