Sound Forge 9

Post by ytdub » Tue Sep 11, 2007 4:52 pm

Does anyone here use it?

I've been getting into it. I dunno how it is viewed for dubstep production, but whatever.

I read it, i just don't believe it.

Did you know Aphex Twin can mix just by smelling the grooves on the records?

That's funny. I often think I can hear a Logic Sculpture presets all over the album.

One of the best things an Artist can do is say they're using or doing something they're not.

Based on his drums being perfectly in time, just shuffled. Even in long breakdowns where there are no drums, and they come back in exactly 4, 8, or 16 bars later.

That and the idea of making imho one of the best albums of last year entirely in Soundforge reeks of the patent bullshit that the likes of Aphex and Squarepusher spout to audio-technically ignorant interviewers (Blackdown being an BIG exception here) because it sounds cooler than "I don't really want to tell you how I make my sounds."

Fair play to him, if I had as unique a sound as him, I wouldn't be giving away my secrets either.

ye but all of which are possible in soundforge just by moving loops till they snd good. take the wayfaring stranger beat, i personally think youd be hard pressed to recreate that JUST using a generic shuffle pattern, you could prob automate the shuffle amount, that might work, or shuffle each hat an snare/rimshot snd using a diff value, but still, theres nothing that makes me beleive he's lying.

anyway, to the original poster, as i said b4 my m8 makes some sik shit on cool edit. And cool edit to soundforge is like what paint is to photoshop.

I thought wayfaring stranger was made in logic, but maybe not. I heard he switched to that around then. If he does it all in soundforge he is a genius, but i have no reason to think he would lie either. And the drums on shutta can't be quantised in any shape or form. But there are already loads of burial gear threads.

Your friend got a myspace / virb where we can hear his stuff Twatty? (Not something i have said before)

With regards to Soundforge - I use 8
Pretty much send all my audio through it at some stage of the production Process - shame its windows only

The more I listen to Burial Album - the more love it
...but the more I question the whole Soundforge production

The Blackdown Remix he did beat matches fine with other tunes that are quantised

Not that it matters... It's the fist dance music that I have listened to in years where I have completly immersed myself in the musical aesthetics of it
