Hey, I'm trying to figure out how to make that sound in my example track. I found a random sample of it and I've been trying to recreate it with no luck.
If someone could give me some pointers or links to some good videos that'd be great, thanks :corndance:

Yeah, I've read pretty much every post in that thread and found nothing that's really like it. I had a quick browse on DOA too. Maybe I'm using the wrong adjectives to describe it when searching

Sounds like some really thick distorted Sine reese rather than your usual "detuned saw" reese.

Hmm, so some thick sine synth, distort, chorus, phase, filter?

Yep. When I say thick sine synth, I mean try a wavetable in massive like Vulgar and play with the intensity until it sounds "sine-like"

most of this kind of sound manipulation is just using EQ to paint the sound. really eq will get you anywhere. if you use fl make a lowpass in parametric eq 2, and automate that to the timing you want. then for the different timbres, make a notch and automate that too. I'll make an example soon, promise

made this one months ago along with all my other neuro sounding basslines with one sytrus patch and no fx chain on it, along the samples i discovered this:
http://soundcloud.com/omega-point-music ... se/s-yEsMA
if you pitch it down an octave it sounds a bit like what you guys are after (wav download is enabled on sc) imho... i can search for the patch and try to figure how i made it if you want :)
