Re: Shackleton appreciation
this mixing is mental, come up with the bassline of moon over joseph burial and the vocals of hypo angel, amazing. I´ve read it was for fabric mix but it was with plates or live?

Re: Shackleton appreciation
Shackleton live is nuts.
Re: Shackleton appreciation
Anyone know the next time he comes to amsterdam?
What's so special about his sets? I've never seen one, really want to

keep an eye on the resident advisor page: http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/shackleton
his sets are incredible. sometimes it takes 10minutes before the journey starts. i can remember sets of him where he was starting with some ambient soundscapes to start the apocalypse. it's just amazing. the way he build every set. pure percussion. pure rhythm.
a mixture of old sounds and new bits. samples, vocals, drum and percussion loops.
i really like the vibe of his sets. and i really enoy it to dance to his music.
it's just me and his music.
tunnel vision/ transcendence.

Re: Shackleton appreciation
Really love the concept of Soundboy's Suicide Note. That's how you create an album of electronic music. A simple concept to build your beats around.
Re: Shackleton appreciation
Soundboy's Suicide Note came in the mail today, and wow. just wow. Hearing it on a proper system, everything is spaced out so perfectly. The vocals that come in Shortwave tripped me out too. And i didn't even realize that The Rope Tightens was on there and damn thats my fav Shack track.
apocalyptic, that's all i can say. big up Shackleton for barely using a snare

Re: Shackleton appreciation
Really looking forward to hearing some new material, anyone who seems him at Fabric let us know if there's any standout new bits

Re: Shackleton appreciation
The man is a absolute genius, for the first half it was more of a live set (45 mins) and then second half was more mixing (45 mins). If you have the chance to see him I advise you to.
Most of the tunes i have never heard at all before apart from 2, it sounded like he had sampled some of older songs then added a complete new twist to them. Still can recognize that trade mark sound.
I'm a noob with production so my explanation of his live show might be a bit shit. He would start out with a basic beat end up adding vocals, drums and other elements to the song and bring them out and throw new bits onto the song in no real order. He would end up re using some of the previous vocals and drums too, it was like listening to one of his albums. He drowned the place low end bass quite a lot of the times. i wasn't too sure how his music would work in a club but it went down a treat in the end.
Maybe I'll write a bit more when I can think straight.

Re: Shackleton appreciation
its all done by triggering loops, he reconstructs tracks live, you will never hear a track in its original form in a shackleton set its fucking amazing tbh. the only artist who makes me dance like a complete goon. had a good chat with him last time i saw him, said he was working on a way to incorporate live composition into his set using arpeggiators.
billed to play in leeds next month showcasing this new set. cant wait!
