Well, you can be pretty creative with waveshapers... but in this context i'd use it to make the sound louder and change its characteristics a bit, start out with something really basic like this:

It's pretty fun / effective to use on pretty much finished sounddesigns, can lead to interesting results...

This reese is pretty special in a way, I tried a new thing I thought of where I would make 2 instances of massive, 1 is just a standard detuned reese, and the other is a non-detuned reese (a saw wave, basically, lol).
Then I would take out frequencies from each instance with maximus. So you have like the 2 synths taking up different parts of the spectrum, the detuned one maybe 0-400 hertz, the non detuned one 400-800hz etc. Then there's alot of disto from Fruity fast dist, Distroyr and camelphat. I often get like feedback on my high-end in basses and stuff, no idea what I do that others dont, haha.
Oh, when the sound is like super detuned, the two instances of massive are playing 2 semitones apart, then there's just some pitching up and eq modulation after that.
Hope I answered what you wanted to know, haha. Tell me if I missed something you really wanted to know
thanks! Sounds pretty interesting... gonna have to try that 2 synths layering thing out, probably works great with other synths as a base too!
By the way, since I'm already posting here, here's a reese (or hoover actually i guess?) made in sytrus with some detuning and FM synthesis... almost unprocessed it sounds like this (no modulations or anything):
Soundcloud
pretty fun to start off with

(it's also how i made the bassline of the tune in my sig @3:15, just with some formant filtering, bandpass & distortion added) if anyone wants to know how the patch works just ask
