Reggae Samples

Post by Mark-Creda » Fri Jun 28, 2013 2:04 pm

I'm a big fan of these 2 volumes here.

http://sample-packs.co.uk/shop/the-true ... -volume-2/

Does anybody know where I can get some more Reggae samples or chilled out instruments ?
I'm a big fan of sax loops and organ stabs .
Summer is coming on strong and I'm in need of some chilled out vibes !

Also, just because I'm feeling like a mad tnuc this morning...every thought of...you know...sampling reggae records? Cassettes? Hell...CDs? You know something with character instead of really generic sample packs.

To up the cunty ante, why not just get a horn or organ instrument and program your own parts?

I could probably muddle through some organ samples, but if I played horn it'd sound like a duck getting gang raped by swans getting gang raped by a freshwater octopus.

I don't know bugger all about playing an instrument like that , yes I could learn but "Aint nobody got time for that!"
Or if you meant horn and organ samples and program my own parts then that's what this thread was about , trying to find some :)

I lot of the source material I used to have has been rinsed so I pretty much have just zipped them up and left them there for a rainy day so to speak.

Thats funny. You want to make music but dont have time to learn how to make music.

In the case of rinsed samples...that anyone can buy...I strongly suggest you start crate digging to find unique ones. IMO that or recording your own are the only ways to get something really uniqe.

1) it's called a skank.
2) If ya can't be bothered to try'n play a real instrument - or hook up with someone who does - at least learn what kind of instrumentation is being used in the track; most parts in roots reggae don't use terribly exotic instruments, but there are particular pieces of gear that tend to get associated with the sound... Hammond B3 organs, Fender basses, undistorted "wet" guitar chords, strongly hi-passed hats, etc.
