Fair enough, but remember Creative Assembly is basically at the mercy of SEGA, and they're the ones the sales affect most. I know buying the game is supporint SEGA, but I can deal with that if it means supporting a great developer and getting a great game.deadly habit wrote:It's only free if you preorder is the issue, it's only industry standard because people take it even though I can't think of anyone but publishers who approve. It's a damn good reason to boycott, it's called voting with your wallet, I also refuse to buy any EA products because I hate their business practices.
Can you link me to this? I just spent 15 minutes trying to find a single piece of info on it and nothing came up. Surely if this was the case there'd be a shit storm on at least one of the Total War forums. All I can find is stuff about Pontus and the Greek Culture Pack, and considering Pontus is free no matter what I can't imagine the Culture pack would be $60...deadly habit wrote:Steam actually had a detailed list of all the day one DLC prices on the store page if you didn't preorder which they have since pulled, and it totaled over $60, the price of the base game.
The way publishers view it is that they need as many sales as possible before the game drops for it to be successful. It's a bullshit business practice but once again, its no reason to punish the developers. Creative Assembly have never let me down with a Total War game (with the exception of one really annoying bug that continues to this day for the FotS expansion for Shogun 2), so unlike 99% of other games I'm willing to gamble on this one. Even if it comes out with game-breaking bugs, there'll be a Steam patch on the way to fix it. I'm confident my $80 (fucking Australian prices) will be well-spent.deadly habit wrote:If the content is ready on day one it should be included with the normal game package not sold at a premium.
Preordering is placing a gamble on an un-reviewed product, and frankly the last few times I did at this price point I ended up with some shitty games, also there is no real need for a preorder to reserve the game for digital because there is an infinite quantity.
