Sam Laxton Bass!

Post by wizzaz89 » Sat Jul 06, 2013 8:29 pm

I'm a big fan of this guy and I'm really impressed by his remixes but I have no idea how he made the bassline in this track.

It's like pegboard nerds but sort of harder I guess?

Thanks for any help ;-)

Well he sampled the growls from Skrillex ft Foreign Beggars - Still getting it, but that's not the sound you're after I guess?

Well im not at my pc atm, but try layering a pitched down formant wave with some gritty wavetable(phase modulation could work here) aaand I think there was a slight upwards quick change in pitch on that sound aswell, been some hours since I listened to it tho so i might be wrong

yea meng. use one or two formant tables layered with other BASIC wave forms. I'm not saying any of the other manipulated waveforms CAN'T get you those sounds, it's just that the ones currently popular today are using basic operators with pitch settings and formant tables. I've found that less is more when synthesizing this type of sound especially when you consider how much it peaks in the upper freq ranges. CHeers yo
