Adding Vocals

Needing some basic advice and direction on how to add vocals to a track.

For example where to find acapellas, processing of the vocal or mix down advice,

Getting it to fit the key of my tune , or what to look for in the vocal stem?

and any other general advice I feel I am taking a step into the dark with this one not used many vocals in production before.

Vocals in the same key and tempo are preferable imo. I have quite a few packs now, there are a lot of usuable packs on places like Loopmasters that cater for "normal" tempos i.e. 110/128/140, so it's easy to sync them to your track.

If a vocal is out of key I usually tune or repitch it to fit my track.

As for processing, I like to chop vocals up, repitch as I said, sometimes harmonize them to chords. I usually end up compressing/distorting them and some light reverb and delay to make them shine more in a mix. I actually really like bandpassing and distorting vocals to get a kind of retro feel to them - it helps to cover up repitching artifacts too imo.
