Vast majority of what I watch is horror but I can't think of anything that scares me.

Whoever said Insidious. No. That film is basically a silly cheesy 80s movie in the veign of poltergeist just made in the wrong decade so missing the fun. With maybe a couple tense scenes though.

I will say that Martyrs while not scary in a conventional horror way does as it progresses become one of the few horror movies to genuinely get to me a little and really what unfolds by the end of the movie is a scary prospect to consider despite the portrayal in the film of the events taking place being shown in more of a helpless and depressing as well as nasty light.

I always wondered why people actively went looking for such terrifying horror movies, like why would you seek out such a negative emotion as the intense fear that a really scary movie gives you? OP said he wanted to be kept up at night, haha. why??

because it's fun you pussy.

Although saying that I'm not sure I could call certain bits of a few films I have seen as being enjoyable but then again not all music is pleasant and happy is it (though maybe not quite the same as seeing terrible things on screen)

yeah I don't really think it's comparable to dark music. As far as emotion goes, music as an artistic medium is much more open to interpretation than film, I think.

Again, I don't see fear as being fun  but each to their own.

Mr Vampire - chinese horror movie from the 80s. Fucking creepy scary shit, despite the horrible english title given to it.

I remember being terrified of prince of darkness when i was younger...the combination of my christian upbringing and the sinister devil mirror scene scarred me for a few years

also DJ Shadow sampled Prince of darkness for entroducing
