Best Synthesis YouTube Channels?

Post by apoplexy » Thu Jul 11, 2013 5:14 pm

Spending my entire day reading How to Make a Noise: a Comprehensive Guide to Synthesizer Programming but am also looking from some YouTube channels, good tutorials, etc so I can really develop an intricate understanding of all of the types of synthesis. Sound design/synthesis is obviously an integral part of making good quality dubstep so it's something I truly want to master.

If you have any good recommendations of YouTube channels, YouTube videos, books, other tutorials, threads, etc please let me know as I will go through it all.

ps, I've already searched and wrote down a lot of stuff already but a lot of it is pretty vague.

Thanks in advance.

I make music, and I came here to discuss it. If you want to hit me up on skype, its jimbo_tulpa_slice, and my FB is Logan Patchwirk Winterhelt.

Also, why do people always put Skrillex and deadmau5 together and think it would be awesome, it wouldn't.

You aren't the only one that thinks so. I'm currently on my own quest into sound design and synthesis as well. I've gotten a decent amount of information and ideas from TheSoundTutor.

And because SeamlessR uses the same fucking sytrus patch in his every song, it doesn't mean he's good at fm synthesis.
Being good at fm synthesis means that you can synthesise every instrument or sound in fm you can imagine.

That is a flaw seamless has, he uses the same vowel sytrus patch and only changes the phase of it. He has to stop using the stock plugins if he wants to progress further IMO, he made a new vid using ring mod on his patch to make it less vowel-y and more squelchy. Most of his tutorials get pretty basic after a while, resampling was an easy task but he needs to make more reese tutorials like the tut he made of chorus-distortion stacking which is a very advanced reese tactic.
