Re: Kahn
thought this was pretty relevant to what kahn and his lot 'believe' in. no-ones lugging a turntable around with them everywhere to listen to beats uno. these lot are lucky that they have some dedicated listeners itt/online etc, should be catering for everyone's demand imo. salute hype everyday anyway, chats sense.

Vinyl is mainly pressed out of love for the thing not to make huge amounts of money like previously before.

take a walk off your local bridge with that talk cah if he really believed in that cause then he wouldn't be sending mp3's to dj's who i've heard spinning his stuff off cd's and serato. you can't have it both ways mate. it's a minor doe, can see this is gonna be a touchy subject for those who complain when 'x' is sold out. hype's points are still valid.
anyway out 2 amir khan, it's nowhere near as bad as the label bosses who do vinyl-only releases but play out cd's/serato.

Re: Kahn
Different sending DJs digital than selling though. You sell digital you know within seconds it'll be all over the web like wildfire for free and everybody can have it within a quick search. Vinyl only keeps it rarer. Yeah okay you get vinyl rips but knowing the best people are getting without having the physical is a rip is worth it for some.
You send a digital to DJs you don't expect it to damage its scarcity by them leaking it.
And thats exactly why Kahn & Neek do it cause they rarely play their stuff on radio and if they do they don't usually give tracklisting.
So Marcus is right it aint about the money, its trying to keep the music they make from being like some track that appears on Youngstas show.. few plays then ripped to shit on youtube then a VIP a week after the original is played to keep people interested.
Just 2 very different ways of keeping people interested.

This though. Always wondered why Loefah, a self confessed vinyl lover, runs a vinyl only label but plays serato... even at DMZ lol.TopManLurka wrote:it's nowhere near as bad as the label bosses who do vinyl-only releases but play out cd's/serato.

even though i get what you're saying i'm not coming from that leaking/dubplate angle at all. imo if you really believed in pushing vinyl as much as these man try and front then you wouldn't be sending mp3's to any respectable tom, dick and dj harry that will play them out.
i won't ever say a beatmaker is selfish for limiting the format they try to push because it's their stuff at the end of the day but tbh, how un-altruistic of them to push out mp3's to djs but not provide the same format for some of the people that actually line their pockets.
+ this is coming from two guys that said "vinyl is final" was the best advice given to them in that trap mag feature.
double standards are very strong with some ppl. borderline badmind if you think about it.

Re: Kahn
vinyl only releases always get ripped to mp3 and are all over the internet within a week anyway. it happened with gorgon sound and bandulu001 and 002. might as well release the official mp3 as well and make some money off it. 10 pounds for bandulu002 is ridiculous, especially if you are buying from out of the UK. i think i paid 25 dollars US for bandulu002 including shipping. not many people can do that. the people who can't pay for the vinyl are just gonna find the vinyl rip online and rinse that instead without giving a cent to the artist or label.
proud owner of Lurka's only big up

Guess it's a "necessary evil" to help people hear the tunes, and thus by the vinyl in the first place. Like it'd be good if there were enough vinyl only DJs to send plates to and still sell out, but might not be like that.TopManLurka wrote:even though i get what you're saying i'm not coming from that leaking/dubplate angle at all. imo if you really believed in pushing vinyl as much as these man try and front then you wouldn't be sending mp3's to any respectable tom, dick and dj harry that will play them out.

Re: Kahn
What exactly do you expect to pay when you are buying a limited UK release that these guys have pretty much done all the work for in regards to printing, cutting and distribution? The majority of vinyl only labels, including Bandulu, aren’t released to make a lot of cash; it’s to release tunes that they feel are good enough for a press on a format they choose. Ripping is always going to happen so why give in to it and release on an inferior format and make it even easier to rip as well? Mass production/selling and releasing digitally are exactly the way to go if you want to dilute a genreorangeluva56 wrote:vinyl only releases always get ripped to mp3 and are all over the internet within a week anyway. it happened with gorgon sound and bandulu001 and 002. might as well release the official mp3 as well and make some money off it.
Loefah and Swamp are a different story. Some hypocritical bumbaclart
Re: Kahn
I feel they are mainly pressing vinyl only releases since they see vinyl as something special and are passionate about it. They want to get more people into buying/playing vinyl since its disappearing.
Its not always about the money or they would stop cutting dubs and play digital.

Re: Kahn
what r u on about? hype's points aren't solely about monetary rewards and no-one has been talking about money on this page apart from you. if anything i'd assume they make more but that's really not what i'm on about so just seckle off matey.
i don't see much passion in what they're doing but if u don't get where i'm coming from then leave it tbh.
it's not a dig @ kahn btw, more at the label heds who have a double standards/punter comes last approach to their beats.

Re: Kahn
There definately is passion in what they are doing otherwise they wouldnt do it. Why is it you think they have double standards Lurka? I completely agree with you though, i just dont see how K & N specifically have gone against what they preach?
Any producer who wants his tunes played out by other respected DJs isnt going to cut a £30 dubplate for them to play

Re: Kahn
like said init, i don't see much passion in pushing vinyl to punters but allowing any format for any dj. the double standards lie there with that punters come last approach and they're hardly flying the pro-vinyl flag with those actions.
these times ppl are more wrapped up in limiting formats and other irrelevant stuff rather than the beats itself imo. should count yourself lucky that we're in a time where beatmakers can cater to everyone so that billy on the other side of the pond can support the cause and not have to download dodgy vinyl rips. drop me right out with some of the elitism that u come across in this sound nowadays https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... _u0#t=486s
