Hey - Recently did a series around emulating analog flavours to Massive when designing sounds.
There's around an hour of video here - enjoy!

This first installment of this new series focuses heavily on not just sound design, but sequencing and the programming and use of Steppers and Performers to automate progressions.



Part two is all about designing a drifting chord



Design using a list of effects useful in producing analog inspired sounds. This list of effects features some heavy hitters, including PSP's oldTimer Compressor, Valhalla's Vintage Verb Reverb, eaReckon's CM-EQUA 87 Equalizer, and D16's Decimort Bit Crusher



Using external processing and effects on the sound you created

Good stuff...I've used massive to make some BoC style pads before. These patches sound a lot like Tycho to me, especially his older stuff. (Tycho sounds more like a happier, playful version of BoC)

I had always heard that a lot of the "warmth" sound that analog has is from imperfect waveforms, and that they never produce the same exact wave twice. So I never use pure waves and modulate the table position ever so slightly. Basically the same thing that was discussed in that tutorial with modulating the pitch but with the wavetable.
