what a great edition that was.. stunning, probably my best dour yet.
thursday began in a great way with like garage rock and brass hip hop, good discoveries, then onto badbadnotgood who were great. charles bradley was perfect - vibes every single time he opens his mouth. doing the splits when you're 65 as well, wtf. calyx & teebee were great, shed as well, bonobo was okay. managed to see yeah yeah yeahs and enjoyed it. the complete wu-tang was another good one. ended the night with the skream & pokes all night long set which was frustrating. from 2am to 4:10am it was one of the best sets of the festival - house and disco stuff with mad vibwdes, people were mad into it, pokes got the whole crowd singing ring my bell. quality. then at 4am, switchup, skream plays filth, then rewinds it into antiwar dub, 10 minutes of classics which people were mad into. then out of nowhere it turned into skrillex, trap and moombahton... after that it just seemed random as fuck, playing alicia right after a skrillex tune for instance. the first part of the show was still really, really great.
second day - saw some cool/okay stuff in the afternoon (jacco gardner, odezenne ...), coely killed it, electric electric as well though the sound was terrible (no kick drums..). then dan deacon killed it as expected. darkstar was pure class. did pretty much the same as joeki afterwards - ben ufo, who i really enjoyed a lot, four tet who was good, then karenn for one of the best sets of the festival - as expected. then discovered as well that jets' timing had been changed, so i stayed to see cupp cave, then ended with surfing leons who played bare bait tunes, but it was fun to end the night.
saturday - damn. began chilling on the dub corner to the sounds of blackboard jungle and dub invaders in the sun, then straight to dubstep; bunzer0 was great, kahn was stellar (beginning felt proper cosmic, but the end of it was heavy). loefah probably played the best set of the festival. mad vibes. enjoyed pinch & sherwood a lot, and then it's probably useless to talk about dmz. watched jurassic 5 from the back of the last arena, was excellent; then joy o, dusky, huxley. probably enjoyed dusky the most as well.
sunday began just as saturday: dub corner, aba shanti i selecting tunes. then had a bit of a random program - some terrible stuff (watsky), some great gigs (and so i watch you from afar, THEE OH SEES). iam was good. saw mungo's hifi's set going along the nearby villages which was great. dj shadow was disappointing - the only bass it "covered" was trap. fortunately the bug made up for it, felt like apocalypse. fantastic gig, another one of my favourites. stayed on the same stage to end things up with panda dub who i thought was really great.
then we went back to the camping to do a bit of an afterparty, finding people destroying their tents and partying to hardcore techno on the ruins of it haha.
all in all - only slept 7 hours from wednesday till now, but this was probably my best dour. great atmosphere, though the weather was heavy. organization reacted well to the weather, and the staff was always nice. good music all throughout and a lot of great discoveries as well as expected winners. only downside was that my camping was located in front of the B camping's bar, meaning we got to hear the DJ spinning trance tunes whenever we were there. to the point that i had that avicii v nicky romero tune in my head everytime i went back to the camping as i kept on hearing it

was fun though i guess!
