Thats what I love about Houndstooth.. theres many labels I will trust enough that I don't have to hear the music before I buy it but none as varied as Houndstooth.murky21 wrote:Really varied releases too.

HTH008 - HoBL - You, Me, Metropolis (EP Clips)
Soundcloud
Dylan Richards moves forward under new moniker 'House of Black Lanterns,' following up his debut album, "Kill The Lights," with a new EP, "You, Me, Metropolis" on fabric’s very own Houndstooth label.
‘House of Black Lanterns’ delivers a single that incorporates the dub-inflected techno textures and sprawling drum & bass soundscapes that he has become known for. As he himself puts it, "There were a few loose themes I tried to stick to, with space and texture being two that are important to me and they’re something that becomes increasingly lost in modern productions."
As well as the title track the EP features exclusive remixes from Breakage and _Unsubscribe_ (Dave Clarke & Mr Jones) who both exhibit their penchant for sub-sonic frequencies. Also included is the previously unreleased "Worthless", a rousing workout that encapsulates both his singular approach to sound design and lasting appeal beyond the dancefloor.
As proven during his recent stint at Boiler Room and debut live show at fabric last month, Dylan Richards knows how to captivate an audience. In stark contrast to the uncompromising industrial sound of King Cannibal, "You, Me, Metropolis" is an absorbing, personal account that serves as a fitting follow up for a producer of such enviable pedigree.
A1 House of Black Lanterns - You, Me, Metropolis
A2 House of Black Lanterns feat. Ghettozoid - Broken (_Unsubscribe_ Remix)
AA1 House of Black Lanterns feat. Leni Ward - Shot You Down (Breakage Remix)
AA2 House of Black Lanterns - Worthless
EP release:
12" - 12th August
Digital - 19th August

I rinsed the fuck out of that Roly Porter snippet on my old but somehow internet-capable Nokia.rob booth wrote:^^^ best track of the year (Roly Porter)

what a tune. really miss Vex'd.
however, hth008 is the first release I'm not really feeling. that new Breakage stuff sounds a bit dull imo, reminds me of Scuba, but with better production skills. "Worthless" could be a Civil release.

The Calibre remix doesn't sound too shabby either! Sounds like another diverse but fully on point releaserob booth wrote:^^^ best track of the year (Roly Porter)

1 release out of 10 isn't too bad going thoughJurkhands wrote:I rinsed the fuck out of that Roly Porter snippet on my old but somehow internet-capable Nokia.rob booth wrote:^^^ best track of the year (Roly Porter)

I'll be slowing down last 5 months of the year, I've put a marker on the label, people know what I'm trying to achieve stylistically now going forward.
Still got Special Request & Akkord albums to come + a further Special Request 12"
Breakage has been going down the Scuba route for a while now, but when your off ur tits at 3am, it's quite the tune !! (but music opinionates and divides people, that's what I love about it) .. Look out for 'You, Me, Metropolis' featuring on a big blog next week.
Glad you guys are feeling the Snow Ghosts remix package, labour of love that one
Re: Houndstooth Label
yeah, still the best new label to come up in a long time, don't worry!
out to whoever had the wit to let you curate a label. couldn't possibly name all the wonderful tunes and upcoming artists EE introduced me to.

Re: Houndstooth Label
Snow Ghosts - Remixes from Roly Porter, Calibre & a cover version from Kahn
Soundcloud
Houndstooth brings you the dancefloor tracks but also those tunes you need at the after 'after' party.
On the 26th August 'Snow Ghosts' will be releasing their 1st EP since the success of their debut album on Houndstooth, “A Small Murmuration”
Crafted from a shared interest of the odd folk nature of Britain and the resultant dark strangeness, Throwing Snow and Augustus Ghost pooled their individual inspirations, ideas and styles on their debut album ‘A Small Murmuration’. Their first full-length under their collaborative Snow Ghosts moniker, the record has already earned the duo praise across the board with The Guardian naming them ‘New Band of The Day’ and the Mercury Music Prize recommending the record as their ‘Album of the Week’, whilst Zane Lowe proclaimed their ‘Murder Cries’ single his ‘Next Hype’ on BBC Radio 1.
‘And The World Was Gone’ is one of the standout mood pieces from that album, a track that pins a sense of raw unease to an acoustic guitar riff and a cello through Ghost’s moving vocal and the remixers on the EP each interpret that feeling in their own way. Roly Porter (one half of confounding dubstep pioneers, Vex’d) amplifies the track’s darkness on his remix whilst drum & bass maestro Calibre emphasise the melancholy in the track’s melody and in-demand Bristol producer and part of the cities blossoming Young Echo collective, Kahn, provides the most subtly arresting cover version imaginable.
Snow Ghosts debut their live show at Old St. Pancras Church, London on Thursday, 5th September. Advance tickets are £8.90 (+ booking fee) and are available now via See Tickets. Full information and ticket competition available at the Houndstooth website.
